The tradition began in the 13th century when King Dinis gifted Óbidos to Queen Saint Isabel as a wedding present. From then on, the town became part of the “Queens’ Estate”, being managed and developed by several Portuguese queens throughout the centuries.
Thanks to their influence, Óbidos flourished, gaining churches, charitable institutions, and a rich heritage that can still be admired today.

A tradição começou no século XIII, quando D. Dinis ofereceu Óbidos à Rainha Santa Isabel como presente de casamento. A partir daí, a vila passou a integrar a chamada “Casa das Rainhas”, sendo administrada por várias rainhas portuguesas ao longo dos séculos.
Foi graças à sua influência que Óbidos prosperou, ganhando igrejas, obras de caridade e um património que ainda hoje encanta quem a visita.
