Did You Know? - Why Giraffes Don’t Live Inside Ngorongoro Crater!

Did you know that there are no giraffes inside the Ngorongoro Crater? 🤔
You can spot them around the crater rim, but not down on the floor - and here’s why!
👉 The crater walls are too steep for giraffes to climb or descend safely.
Their long legs and tall bodies make it nearly impossible for them to handle the sharp slopes that lead into the crater.
So, while the Ngorongoro Crater is home to elephants, lions, rhinos, and hippos, giraffes prefer the open woodlands and savannas around Lake Manyara, Tarangire, and Serengeti - where they can move freely and browse on tall acacia trees.
Next time you visit Ngorongoro, look up! You might just spot a giraffe walking gracefully along the rim. 🦒💚

Saviez-vous qu’il n’y a aucune girafe à l’intérieur du cratère du Ngorongoro ? 🤔
On peut les voir autour du bord du cratère, mais jamais au fond — et voici pourquoi !
👉 Les parois du cratère sont trop raides pour les girafes.
Avec leurs longues pattes et leur grand cou, elles ne peuvent pas monter ni descendre les pentes abruptes du cratère sans danger.
Ainsi, tandis que le Ngorongoro abrite des éléphants, des lions, des rhinocéros et des hippopotames, les girafes préfèrent les forêts claires et les savanes ouvertes du lac Manyara, de Tarangire et du Serengeti, où elles peuvent brouter librement les acacias.
Lors de votre prochaine visite, levez les yeux ! Vous apercevrez peut-être une girafe marchant gracieusement le long du bord du cratère. 🦒💚
