“No one will protect what they don't care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced.” — David Attenborough

Happy 100th birthday to Sir David Attenborough, whose storytelling and lifelong dedication to the natural world have inspired generations to look more closely, care more deeply, and protect the wild places that connect us all. 🍃

Sometimes it’s the smallest touches on safari that make the biggest impact—like enjoying coffee among the zebras during a game drive. 🦓 ☕

We love weaving thoughtful moments into our guests’ safaris, whether it’s a cold drink waiting after a gorilla trek, surprise sundowners in the bush, or a birthday celebration to mark that special day. It’s these personal touches that turn a great safari into something truly memorable.

This Labor Day, we celebrate our incredible team who helps make the magic happen on safari.

To soar above Victoria Falls is to see one of the world’s great natural wonders from its most breathtaking angle. On this scenic helicopter flight, you’ll see the mighty Zambezi River plunge into the Batoka Gorge, sending up mist that rises hundreds of meters into the air — visible for miles around.

Known as the “Flight of Angels,” this experience is one of the most breathtaking ways to take in the scale and beauty of the Falls, and a highlight for many travelers exploring Southern Africa.

Tambarare Camp offers a quieter side of safari in the heart of Kenya’s Laikipia region.

Set within the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the camp blends contemporary design with a strong sense of place, overlooking the open plains and the distant slopes of Mount Kenya. Wildlife moves freely through the landscape, from elephants and giraffe to a rich variety of birdlife, creating a setting that feels both expansive and intimate.

The days here are shaped by flexibility—including game drives and guided walks—while the camp itself provides a comfortable, thoughtfully designed base to return to.

It’s a place for those seeking a more relaxed, uncrowded safari experience, where connection to the land comes naturally. ✨🌍

Nature’s spectacle at its best. Every year, the wildebeest herds follow the rain and the fresh, nutritious grasses that come with it.

And while the migration is a year-round cycle, the most dramatic part is undoubtedly crossing season, where over one million wildebeest brave the river crossing in pursuit of greener pastures.

It’s an incredible moment to watch in the wilderness…one defined by instinct, survival, and the rhythms of the wild. ✨🌍

Earth Day is a reminder of the places that stay with us long after we leave them.

From wide open savannah to dense forests alive with sound, these landscapes are not only beautiful; they are essential. They support wildlife, sustain communities, and hold stories that continue across generations.

Thoughtful travel plays a role in protecting what makes these places so special. By supporting conservation, community partnerships, and low-impact experiences, each journey can contribute to something greater.

Today, and every day, we remain committed to preserving the wild places that inspire us all.

A look back at an unforgettable week in the Pearl of Africa.

We recently had the pleasure of hosting a fantastic group of travel advisors in Uganda, exploring the remarkable range of experiences in the Pearl of Africa. From gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and chimpanzee encounters in Kibale, to game drives, boat safaris, and sundowners overlooking wide open landscapes, each day offered something new.

Along the way, the group visited a collection of Uganda’s leading luxury lodges and cultural encounters, gaining firsthand insight into the properties, people, and experiences that shape a journey here.

Uganda continues to stand out for its diversity and depth on safari—an extraordinary destination that leaves a lasting impression long after the journey ends.

A story that comes full circle in the forests of Rwanda. 🦍

In A Gorilla Story, David Attenborough returns nearly 50 years after his first encounter with a young mountain gorilla named Pablo—an experience that helped bring global attention to the species. Through archival footage, personal journals, and striking new cinematography, the film follows the “Pablo Group,” tracing the lives of his descendants today.

Directed by James Reed, the documentary offers a rare look into the social dynamics of gorilla families—their bonds, hierarchies, and the role of leadership within the group—while highlighting just how far conservation efforts have come.

At its heart, it’s a story of continuity and protection. Through decades of dedicated conservation, the story of the mountain gorillas has become one of the most powerful examples of what long-term commitment can achieve. We’re proud to be a part of this journey, which Hornbill guests and travel partners contribute towards with every gorilla safari.

Today, we celebrate one of Africa’s most iconic and deeply intelligent species.

Seen here in the Serengeti, elephants move with a quiet presence—family groups staying close, young ones learning with every step. Guided by matriarchs and bound by strong social bonds, elephants shape the landscapes they move through and rely on vast, connected habitats to thrive.

Protecting their future means safeguarding these ecosystems while also supporting the communities who share space with wildlife. Efforts that reduce human-wildlife conflict and promote coexistence are essential to ensuring elephants continue to roam freely for generations to come.

It’s a shared responsibility, and one that thoughtful travel helps support in meaningful ways.
