The 2026 Chinook regulations on the North Alaska Peninsula are a clear reflection of where Alaska salmon management is headed and it’s welcomed news!

For years, our programs have already operated with a conservation-first mindset:
• Catch-and-release focused king fishing
• Single barbless hooks
• Fish kept in the water whenever possible
• Swing-focused fly fishing with low overall impact

These fisheries remain some of the healthiest and most consistent wild Chinook systems left in Alaska — but protecting them requires long-term thinking, not short-term “catch em’ all” harvest mentality.

The reality is simple: low-pressure, fly fishing-focused programs have always been part of the solution.

We’ll continue doing what we’ve always done:
Fishing the conditions. Fishing the well within the State regulations. And creating meaningful opportunities for anglers committed to chasing wild fish with a swung fly.

New sport fishing regulations for Chinook (King) salmon on the North Alaska Peninsula for 2026 are now in place. These changes reflect a more conservative, forward-looking approach to managing our sensitive wild fisheries.

• Single barbless hooks
• Fish kept in the water whenever possible
• Swing-focused fly fishing with low overall impact

Chrome bright and headed back where it belongs.

Nothing like watching a fresh king from the Chinook salmon kick free and disappear into that cold Alaska current. Strong, wild, and exactly as it should be.

The reasons anglers love silver salmon are well established. They crush flies, leap and cartwheel through the fight, and hold in a wide range of water that invites both single-hand and two-hand fly fishing techniques. From Southeast Alaska to the far reaches of Western Alaska, there are plenty of places to chase coho.

So why travel to the far edge of the Alaska Peninsula to fly fish the Sapsuk for Silver Salmon?

Because this river offers a rare combination that’s increasingly hard to find in one place: strong runs, low pressure, and water that’s genuinely easy to fish.
