Capturing moments like this is a lot like fishing. You have to be in the right spot, at the right time, and get a little lucky.

For me, there’s not much better than being out in my canoe in the Adirondacks at first light, fly rod in hand, with the loons calling across the water.

It never ceases to amaze me that places like this still exist.

Get outside. Find yourself. And say hi to the loons.

I had the pleasure of taking out yet another awesome father + son combo.

Art had been telling his son, Ben, for nearly 20 years that he wanted to get into fly fishing, and this trip marked the beginning of that journey.

Right on cue, a beautiful wild Battenkill brown trout took an emerging wet fly on the swing, exactly where I suggested it might.

Sometimes we all get lucky. Even the guide.

Katie joined us for her first fly fishing experience and landed a beautiful wild brown trout we will not soon forget.

This fish gave us a run for our money, but after a memorable fight, we were able to bring it safely to the net.

Catching a wild brown like this is always special, but the time on the water is what it is really all about. Great people, otters cruising by, birds doing their thing, and the chance to experience the Battenkill in a way that stays with you long after the day is over.

Another epic experience in the books, and yes, we love getting a beautiful brown in the net too.
