Turns out Troutlady is pretty good with bamboo, too.

Our very own Margie Kaat took home the win at the 2026 Bamboo Derby on the Battenkill, presented by the American Museum of Fly Fishing.

A big thanks to AMFF for all they do to preserve the history and traditions of fly fishing and bring the community together right here on the Battenkill.

Congrats to Margie, your 2026 Bamboo Derby Champion.

Fly fishing from my Wenonah in the ADK for smallies. Not much I’d rather be doing.

Last night’s summer sunset over the Battenkill.

The front clearing through the valley just as the sun dropped behind the mountains. One of those moments when everything lines up.

Thanks to everyone who reads the BKO fishing report, coming to you directly from the banks of the Battenkill.

It’s a daily routine I’ve really come to look forward to.

Link in bio for the daily fishing report, hatches and fly recommendations. 🤙

Been trying for a long time to capture this elusive fella. The Scarlet Tanager.

Trust me, he knows.
