❄️ It's official! The weather is changing and the final 2.7-miles of the Mount Baker Highway (aka the road to Artist Point) is CLOSED for the season. [The closure point starts at milepost 54.]

Yet to experience this iconic view? The last segment of the road closes annually due to snow, but typically reopens fully in late spring/summer, so make a plan for 2027.

🌲 But don't fret! Many activities along the Mount Baker highway are still accessible. Travelers should however check for weather and road conditions before planning a visit.

🚂 🔆 Now that's right on the water! Riding Amtrak Cascades north from Seattle traveling into Bellingham you will be treated to views of Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands. Then, the train drops off in Fairhaven Village, perfect for walkable explorations. This area is also close to downtown Bellingham and even more adventures!

Brand-new trains have started to arrive on this route too! Look for # 503, 508, 516, and 519 when booking Amtrak Cascades, which runs fully between Vancouver B.C. and Portland, OR.

🎇 The sun is already setting earlier, but Bellingham has a festival that celebrates the shorter days of winter right in downtown Bellingham! 🔥

Fire & Story is back for a fourth year - January 28-30!

This family-friendly festival will feature more than 12 artist-built, hand-forged fire pits, which are perfect for staying warm and embracing the colder nights.

🎤 Over 150 individual artists and entertainers (musicians, storytellers, comedians, visual artists, dancers, glassblowers, metalsmiths, puppeteers) will perform across five stages.
