The wildlife can smell when the people leave. The scent of peanut butter deer corn is in the air!

Yeah! The guests are gone so we can roam free!

I love sunny days and sunsets in Texas. It is important to stop and take it all in.

HAVE A HOWLING HALLOWEEN GOOD TIME
Get in the Halloween spirit with the groundbreaking, genre-bending horror classic “AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON” at the historic Cliftex Theatre in Clifton Monday, October 26

“The undead surround me. Have you ever talked to a co**se? It's boring! I'm lonely! Kill yourself, David, before you kill others.”

“I think I've lost my mind. I think you're not real. I think you're just another part of a bad dream.”

Get dressed up in your favorite Halloween costume and bring your friends as the Bosque Film Society invites everyone to be our guests for a free-to-the-public Fourth Annual Halloween Costume Party featuring the groundbreaking, genre-bending supernatural comedy horror classic “AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, October 26 at The Cliftex Theatre in Clifton with an introductory presentation by Bosque Film Society founder and board president Brett Voss.

We strongly encourage everyone to get dressed up for our Costume Contest, and plan to sing and dance to David Bowie’s “Putting Out Fire” and Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves of London.” The free-to-the-public screening has been made possible by the generous sponsorship from Nick and Lindy Pernokas.

Written and directed by John Landis starring David Naughton, Jenny Agutter, Griffin Dunne and John Woodvine, "An American Werewolf In London" has become a cult classic, offering curious but oddly endearing mixture of horror film and spoof, of comedy and shock, while going for the jugular with frenetic direction, macabre wit and astounding creature effects from Rick Baker.

DISCLAIMER: "An American Werewolf in London" (1981) is rated R due to its bloody violence and gore, sexual content, nudity and strong language.

David (David Naughton) and Jack (Griffin Dunne), two American college students backpacking through Britain are attacked by a werewolf. David survives with a bite, but Jack is brutally killed. The werewolf is killed in the attack but reverts to its human form, and the local townspeople are unwilling to acknowledge its existence.

As David heals in the hospital, he's plagued by violent nightmares of hunting on four feet at first, but then finds that his dead friend and other recent victims appear to him, demanding that he commit su***de before the next full moon to release them from their curse, being trapped between worlds because of their unnatural deaths.

"An American Werewolf in London" remains a groundbreaking horror-comedy masterpiece, celebrated for Rick Baker's Oscar-winning practical effects and the iconic transformation sequence that still surpasses modern CGI. John Landis's direction seamlessly blends horror, comedy and romance in unprecedented ways, supported by strong performances from David Naughton and Griffin Dunne. The film's technical achievements and genre-blending ex*****on make it an enduringly entertaining classic.

Celebrating its sixth season, the 2026 Film Appreciation Night At The Movies Series will continue on Monday nights each month with the final two films of the series featuring the 3rd Annual Veterans Day Tribute presenting Steven Spielberg’s masterpiece “Schindler's List” (1993) introduced by Angela Smith on Nov. 16; and the 7th Annual Christmas Party featuring the beloved holiday classic “Miracle on 34th Street” (1947) introduced by Bryan Davis on Dec. 14.

Established in 2020, Bosque Film Society is a non-profit organization focused on promoting film appreciation, education and production in Bosque County, Texas, while serving as the "Friends of The Cliftex Theatre," the longest continuously-operating movie theater in Texas, showing films on the silver screen since 1916, also ranking as the 11th longest running in the United States and 16th in the world.
