Today in Davidson history - October 19, 1914 a grisly discovery was made by student Walter Dumas confirming a long time legend on campus. This was no Halloween prop but a gruesome reminder of a medical school once operating in Davidson.

ONE NIGHT ONLY! We are opening the doors to give you a look INSIDE this lonely home and tell you about the “Legend of Miss Louise.” Was she a witch as some of the town children believed?

Take one of 4 mini-tours inside the house where Miss Louise lived for 80 years. We will start our tours at Knotty and Board as part of their Haunted Victorian night. Mini-tours consist of 3 stories of true Davidson hauntings along with the house tour. October 15, 1937…today in Davidson history, James A. Jetton was electrocuted one day shy of his 23rd birthday. He is buried in the Davidson College Cemetery amongst many family members including his uncle Monroe Jetton, who was involved in the most scandalous murder in Davidson history.

One of the things I love most about my job is that I learn something new or talk to someone interesting every single day!

Last week I was speaking at a luncheon. I told a few stories about the NC Medical school that used to be in Davidson. If you’ve been on my north tour I always lament how the beautiful medical building was torn down in 1970.

When I finished my stories, a woman raised her hand and told me she salvaged several doors from the medical school building to use in her home that was built in 1979. Of course I had to go see for myself!

The building for the NC Medical College stood on the corner of Lorimer and Davidson-Concord Rd from 1896-1970.
