Thanks to everyone who came out to the Motor Mile Car Show on Coxe Avenue yesterday! The day was a special moment to revive our local history. It was awesome to see families and all ages/backgrounds enjoying this event. One special moment was captured where my good friend Bruce taught a young man how to start his 1967 Jaguar E Type. This is exactly what we need to do if we want to keep this history alive and the next generation interested in classic cars - share them with the public. This event was sponsored by local businesses and supported by the community - Asheville should be proud!

We are excited for our second architectural trolley tour of the season, featuring the works of Asheville architect, Douglas Ellington! The tour starts at Asheville High School and visits S&W Cafeteria, Asheville City Hall, First Baptist Church and the Douglas Ellington house in Chunns Cove, all while the history of Asheville is shared. Today for those on the tour, we will see one of Ellington’s later commissions, a home designed for Asheville Artist, Rose Brown called “Kells Castle.” The legend is that Rose challenged Ellington that he couldn’t design a house made out of unfinished concrete block and brick. Brown, an enthusiast of astrology and the paranormal also asked him to orient the front of the house towards the constellation Virgo, as she herself was a Virgo. Inside of the house, Brown drew the four apostles from The Book of Kells sacred Irish text on the walls outside@of the kitchen. These images still remain today. The home also featured a seance room, of which many stories will be shared today! This home is currently listed for sale by agent who will be leading our group through the house today!
