Friday Fact:

Antigua, Guatemala — our home base — was actually the country's capital until a series of devastating earthquakes in 1773 forced it to be abandoned for a new location, leaving behind the cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, and stunning church ruins that make it one of the most beautiful cities in Central America today. 🇬🇹

"WHO KNEW WEDNESDAY!!"

Guatemala has an amazing 37 VOLCANOES! What's more: Two of Guatemala's three ACTIVE volcanoes are a short drive away from our home base of Antigua - one (Pacaya) we hike to during the trip, and the other (Fuego) has plumes of regular smoke visible from Antigua!!

The family homestay is where the real immersion happens!

Each participant lives with a local Guatemalan family in Antigua for the duration of our program — sharing meals, conversation, and daily life entirely in Spanish.

It's less like a hotel stay and more like becoming part of the family for a couple of weeks: host moms who pack you a sack lunch for your "field trip" hiking to an active volcano and the kind of everyday conversation that no classroom can replicate.

Most participants say it's the single biggest reason their Spanish actually sticks - with lifetime friendships an added bonus :)
