You need to know.

You probably already know about Florida's Move Over Law on the road. But did you know there's a version for the water?

Florida Statute 327.463 requires boaters to slow to slow speed, minimum wake whenever they're within 300 feet of an emergency vessel with its lights activated. That includes law enforcement, Coast Guard, and fire rescue vessels. It also applies near construction vessels or barges flying an orange flag while actively working.

Fully off plane. Minimal wake.

The reason is simple: a boat flying past at full speed creates a wake that can knock personnel off their feet, interfere with rescue operations, or make an already dangerous situation worse. When lights are on and crews are working, the last thing they need is someone's wake rocking the boat, literally.

First responders are out on the water every day, and laws like this one help make sure they can do their jobs safely and get home at the end of their shift.

Life in Florida

Florida isn’t a place you understand… it’s a place you adjust to.
It’s a long stretch of land that looks normal on a map, but once you’re in it, everything feels slightly off in the most entertaining way possible.
Up north, it feels like the South — quiet roads, tall pines, and small towns where time moves slower.
Keep driving and suddenly it’s highways, theme parks, and traffic that appears out of nowhere like it was always there.
Then you hit South Florida… and it’s a completely different world. Palm trees, ocean air, fast life, and humidity that wraps around you like a wet blanket you didn’t ask for.
Florida doesn’t have seasons.
It has moods.
Hot.
Hotter.
Thunderstorm.
Back to hot like nothing happened.
The sky can go from blue to chaos in minutes, dump rain hard enough to flood everything, then clear up before you even finish complaining about it.
And the wildlife?
You don’t go looking for it… it finds you.
Something is always watching from the water.
Something is always moving in the bushes.
And somehow, everyone just keeps it moving like it’s normal.
You can pass three completely different lifestyles in one short drive — beach life, city life, and something that feels like you just accidentally entered the wild.
Nothing about Florida tries to be predictable.
And that’s exactly the point.
It’s chaotic, it’s weird, it’s hot, it’s loud…
…and somehow, it all works.

Americans from this country can save one of this country's greatest national parks. Somehow, I did not see this when it was released about 3 years ago. It's still absolutely relevant and important, especially for those new to Florida who love the beaches, clean waters, and natural wildlife.
