Got to see the beautifully renovated Carolina Theatre with friends last night. Opened in 1927, it closed in 1978 and sat vacant for 47 years. Thanks to the Belk family for their support in the reopening.

On the way to the coast, we stopped at an Argan Oil Co-op. This co-op was started by the parents and now their 2 daughters and son are running the business. Not only did they teach about the argan making tools, they prepared a delicious lunch in their home. If you are visiting Essaouira, this is a lovely stop.

Richard Branson’s property is stunning. The Berber tents and jewel toned bedrooms are quite unique. The property also supports a local woman’s community through the Eva Branson Foundation.

Hiking around Asni, the town that was 95% destroyed during the 2023 Marrakesh earthquake. We stopped at a Berber home to see how traditional mint tea is made and I tried on a fancy Berber dress. A great day trip from Marrakesh which is only an hour drive.
