✈️ RECORD TRAVEL EXPECTED AT TYS 🏈🧡

A big football weekend + fall break travel = a VERY busy McGhee Tyson Airport!

With thousands of visitors traveling to East Tennessee for the Tennessee vs. Texas game and local families heading out for fall break, we’re preparing for record-breaking passenger traffic.

📅 Sunday, Sept. 27 is expected to be the busiest passenger travel day in TYS history, with approximately 10,000 passengers traveling through the terminal.

If you’re flying this weekend, plan ahead:

⏰ Arrive at least THREE HOURS before your scheduled departure
📱 Download your airline’s app for the latest flight updates
🚗 Prebook your ground transportation
👥 Expect longer lines at ticket counters, security, and concessions
🧡 Pack your patience!

Our airport team and partners are adding staff, opening ticket counters and security earlier, and taking additional steps to help keep passengers moving.

Whether you’re heading out of town or arriving in Big Orange Country—give yourself plenty of extra time and enjoy the journey! ✈️

It’s Day 5 and time for the final waterpark I wanted to feature this week!

Dollywood’s Splash Country is my “local” waterpark, right next to Dollywood here in East Tennessee! Here you’ll find a wide variety of slides, a relaxing lazy river, family friendly attractions, and more. There are also special ticket packages when visiting and staying at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort! This is definitely a fun one to visit. It’s Day 4 of highlighting some of my favorite waterparks to book and visit!

Blizzard Beach is located in Disney World and has lots of thrills and chills! Here at this ski resort themed waterpark you can find fun for all ages. There are fun areas for young kids to play, slides to race on, as well as a near-vertical plummet for the biggest adventure seekers. Would you add this park to your next Disney trip itinerary?

We’re on Day 3 of highlighting some of my top waterparks, today is a very special spot!

Perfect Day CocoCay is not *just* a waterpark but deserves a shoutout nonetheless! This destination is private for Royal Caribbean guests and includes a variety of fun water slides and pools across the island. You can find adults-only beach access here as well as overwater cabanas, dining spots, and bars all around. Would you add this location to your travel bucket list?

Volcano Bay is located in Universal Orlando Resort and features thrilling adventures to explore! Besides The Volcano itself, there are super fast water slides, family fun raft rides, and multiple pools including a large lazy river.
