I say this all the time: it’s very easy to be miserable at Disney. 🏰

Not because Disney isn’t magical, but because so much of your trip gets decided before you ever pack a bag. Which hotel you pick, when you book, whether you budgeted for Lightning Lanes. Get those wrong and you feel it every single day you’re there.

Nothing derails a park day faster than realizing the character your kid actually wanted to meet stopped appearing an hour ago.

The My Disney Experience app has a Characters tab most people never open. It shows you every meet and greet happening that day, where they are, and what times they’ll be out.

But here’s the part that actually matters: check it in the morning and build your day around those times. Deciding to go find Ariel at 2pm means standing in a line that would have been ten minutes at opening.

One year ago today I married my best friend, and yes, we picked the date on purpose. 🪐

We’re huge Guardians fans, so everyone walked in to “September,” our favors were cassette tape matchbooks, and our wedding party got groovy glasses and custom tees with our matchbook logo. Add Pixar table names, Pizza Planet Crocs, and a surprise Mickey ears cake, and it was perfectly us.

Fun fact: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT normally plays one of six songs at random, but every September 21st it plays “September” all day. So next year, we’re celebrating right there, plus Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! 🎃

Everyone wants me to tell them the dining plan saves money. I’m not going to, because that’s not really the question.

Here’s what it actually is: you prepay for meal credits with your resort package, then swipe instead of paying all week. Credits are per person per night and they expire at checkout, so the math only works if you actually use them.

The main misconception is that it’s a deal. It’s not a deal, it’s a decision about how you want to eat on vacation. If you’re already planning character meals and long sit-down lunches in the air conditioning, it makes sense. If you’re a grab a pretzel and keep moving group, you’ll leave credits on the table and wonder why you bothered.

What you’re really buying is not having to think about it. For some people that’s worth every penny. For others it’s money that should have gone somewhere else on the trip.

I’m a travel advisor with a Disney ship sailing an hour from my house, and I’m still flying to Florida.

Disney is bringing the Wish back to New York in fall 2027, first time since 2023, and I’m genuinely happy it exists. But before you book it just because it’s close, look at where it goes. Bermuda, or New England and Canada. Both beautiful. Neither one includes Castaway Cay, Lookout Cay, or a park day.

Here’s the part nobody says out loud: it’s the same ship. Same staterooms, same AquaMouse, same dining rotation. The Wish repositions to Port Canaveral after the New York season, so you can sail her out of Florida instead and add the islands and Disney World to the exact same vacation.

We do Disney World every January, just the two of us, and it’s the trip I protect all year. So when the choice is three hours on a plane or two extra days at sea, I’m picking the plane.

That said, seven sailings is nothing. If the New York departure is the one calling you, book early and I’ll help you make it worth it.

Nobody tells you this part, and nobody wants to believe it when I do.

Booking through me costs the exact same as booking it yourself. Same resorts, same tickets, same prices. My commission comes from the hotels, never from you.

What you get on top of that is a person. Someone who knows your budget, your kids’ nap schedule, and that you’ll text at 11pm panicking about dining reservations.

What clients tell me most isn’t that I saved them money. It’s that they didn’t have to carry it alone.

I’ll say it: the deck show on Frozen night was the letdown.

I need a call to action that’s not too cheesy after this- It’s the same show as the Hollywood Studios sing-along, jokes and all. I would have preferred the stage version of Frozen if we weren’t going to get anything original to this sailing.
Still worth taking the time out of your day to see, just was hoping more tailored to this special night.

It felt surreal the whole time. Like a place from a movie that I’m somehow standing in.

Five things I wish I’d known before our Alaskan Disney cruise 🫍🚢❄️

We were up on deck 10 for the glacier with everyone else, getting rained on, until we’d had enough of it… glaciers have their own weather, apparently. Ducked down to deck 4 for cover and accidentally found the best spot on the ship. Covered, way fewer people, and characters wander through.
