During Loki’s takeover of King T’Challa’s celebration, he commissioned Lucy to draw a portrait of him on the stage. She drew him with hearts and stars all over and wrote “bah! I love my mommy!”

I couldn’t have planned for her to be chosen, and I couldn’t have guessed she’d respond by poking a little fun at this iconic antihero. But somehow that’s what Disney does perhaps best—

They set the perfect stage (sometimes literally) for magical moments that your family creates.

I have never packed backup clothes for my kids at a theme park.. even when our plan involves water rides at the other theme parks. But Universal Kids Resort is built in such a way that is about to change all that. It beckons for parents to bring a dry bag and a spare change of clothes.

Yes, it’s Texas, and it’s gonna be rrrrreally hot in the summer. So if you want your kids to stick with the old air-dry method (it’s a ‘90s summer’ after all), I support that.

But between the

💚TWO interactive splash zones in Shrek’s Swamp,

💙Sponge Bob’s Bobbing Barrels ride & Bikini Bottom splash area and water-filled interactive play areas

💛Bello Bay Cruise water ride and (you guessed it) water-soaked interactive play areas at Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club
..It won’t isn’t just be “a little splash pad moment.”—It looks like intentional water play built right into the experience, which means happy kids… and very wet clothes.

💡 So, I’ll be packing a lightweight change of clothes or swim outfit in a small backpack just for this park!

Should you book October- December hotel rooms at Universal Kids Resort even though tickets haven’t released?

IMO- YES! There’s little risk to grabbing those hotel rooms now.. and delaying doing so may mean increased prices.

We are SO pumped to head to Shrek’s Swamp at Universal Kids Resort next month. And as much as we love Shrek and Fiona, our interactions with Donkey at Universal Studios Hollywood were some of the highlights of our time there. He kept us laughing the whole time!

We still have full confidence that Shrek’s Swamp is going to fantastic. We can’t wait to ride through Shrek & Fiona’s Happily Ogre After, visit our favorite couple and splash and stomp in the two interactive play areas!

While there are technically 4 room types, three of the options (Standard, Deluxe and Signature) are all described almost identically— just with different square footages. Signature Queens are described as having a “separate toilet.” The photos on the website don’t show this, and a Universal Team Member told me today she can only guess that this means that there will be separate rooms/doors for the toilet vs. shower, but we will all find out in full in a few weeks!

The Family Suites offer separate spaces, large square footage and more privacy.

You can also upgrade to a Pool or Theme Park View. My family is definitely going for a Theme Park View... I love watching the action!

Remember— there’s only 300 rooms total in the hotel, so if you have an ideal room type, I suggest you book asap.

If we want to plan for October-December 2026.. should I book my hotel stay now?

At this time, park tickets and vacation packages haven’t been released yet for October-December 2026– only hotel reservations are available.

It’s a tough call. Booking your hotel stay secures availability and assurance that your hotel price will NOT increase. And it actually can drop after you book! I monitor pricing for my clients, and I have literally saved my Universal clients hundreds just by double-checking for price drops.

However, you can’t add Universal’s Cancel For Any Reason protection policy to a hotel-only stay. It would be subject to separate cancellation guidelines.

Even if you end up booking the hotel first and tickets later without a package, you will still be allowed those great perks of Early Admission, convenience of location, a dedicated park entrance and beautiful rooms designed with families in mind.
