Let me be *abundantly* clear— I do not believe American hotels are overall better than European ones. This is no dig on European standards— but rather an acknowledgement that Americans can be quickly snobby (sorry) about what we ‘deserve’ in terms of hotel upgrades and quality.
We tend to expect big rooms with big beds. More amenities. Ice machines. Coffee makers. Air conditioning. Elevators that can fit half your family and all your luggage. 😂 We ding hotels in reviews for lack of updates and any minor inconvenience or imperfection.

My review of Santa Fe is meant to show you that while it lacked upgrades and bells and whistles, it did the job just fine. Or you can pay more at Disneyland Paris and get more. While we would definitely check out a different resort to explore more options next time we return to Disneyland Paris, we also wouldn’t be dissatisfied by a return to Hotel Santa Fe either.

No, Cabana Bay isn’t perfect. Unlimited Express Pass isn’t included (which makes the Signature Collections that offer them a fantastic value), and the walk that I bragged about can be 15 minutes+. It does not contain any taste of a luxury, upgraded feel.

But for what you’re paying for this Value Inn & Suites resort, you not only get ample space and privacy for larger families (like our 5) but also the ability to control your own timeframe destiny for your visit to Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios and Volcano Bay. And that lazy river definitely meets our family’s needs for both fun and relaxation.

And I cannot forget the other perks:
-Early Park Admission — get into select Universal parks/attractions up to 1 hour before regular park opening (available at all on-property hotels)
-two huge pool areas
-Pool with a waterslide
-Zero-entry pools — great for little kids
-On-site bowling alley — available only to Cabana Bay guests
-Arcade
-the retro Jack LaLanne Physical Fitness Studio- notably fantastic
-Large food court
-Starbucks on property
-Multiple poolside food/drink options
-Free merchandise delivery to your hotel for eligible Universal purchases
-Volcano Bay-view rooms available
-Poolside rooms available

Is it just me? 😬 Apart from a pineapple Dole Whip and a cheeseburger spring roll, I’m eating for pure sustenance.

It’s no wonder we find ourselves ending most of our nights at Casey’s downing a foot long so we can make it back to our resort. 😅🫠

Am I wrong? What do y’all actually enjoy at Magic Kingdom? ⬇️

I didn’t post the OG video with the OG sound because the quality is so low with the background noise. But tens of thousands of views later across platforms.. I had to! These two were fabulous, and I highly recommend hunting them down at Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure.

Don’t forget to watch a couple of Popeye cartoons with your kids before you go to increase that magic!
