Most Disney resorts offer activities throughout the week, making them perfect for a Disney rest day or a relaxing evening after the parks.

Depending on your resort and its schedule, you may find:

🎬 Movies Under the Stars
🔥 Campfires and marshmallow roasting
🎨 Poolside games, crafts and children’s activities
🛝 Playgrounds and splash areas
✨ Seasonal activities and entertainment

Many of these activities are completely free, while select crafts—like making tie-dye shirts—and experiences such as fishing or bike rentals may have a small additional fee. Activities and pricing vary by resort, so check the recreation calendar posted in your resort lobby or ask a Cast Member when you arrive!

As a mom of four and a travel agent, I love anything that makes a Disney vacation easier—but I also want it to make sense for your budget! 💛

The Disney Dining Plan is something I recommend looking at if…

✨ You love having your meals paid for ahead of time. Knowing much of your food budget is already covered can make vacation feel a little more relaxing!

✨ Character meals are on your must-do list. With the table-service dining plan, your restaurant choices can make a big difference in the value you get.

✨ Your family enjoys a sit-down meal each day. For us, a meal break can be a chance to cool off, rest little legs, and recharge.

✨ You’ll actually use the included meals and snacks. If your family prefers sharing meals or grazing throughout the day, paying separately might make more sense.

And for 2026? I’ve been especially excited about this for families with younger kids! Kids ages 3–9 get a FREE dining plan with an eligible Disney resort package when a dining plan is purchased for everyone ages 10 and up. That can make a big difference when you’re feeding a family! 🙌

But even with kids eating free, it isn’t automatically the best option for everyone. We still need to look at how your family eats, where you want to dine, and the total cost.

That’s something I will always be honest about as your travel agent. If I think an extra is worth your money, I’ll tell you—and if I think you’re better off skipping it, I’ll tell you that, too. 🏰💛

Disney is VERY good at putting something your kids want everywhere you look. 😂

I’ll be completely honest—the first time we took our kids, we came home with way too much stuff, and I felt like the trip was becoming more about what they could buy than what we were experiencing together.

Now, each child gets a preloaded Disney Gift Card for souvenirs. They know exactly how much money they have, and once it’s gone, it’s gone! It gives them control over their choices while eliminating the constant “Can I get this?” conversations.

Another trick we use: If they see something they love but aren’t ready to commit, we take a picture of it! That way, they won’t forget about it, and we can compare all their favorites later in the trip before they spend their money.

Most of the time, they either find something they love even more—or completely forget about the first thing. 😂

It makes souvenir shopping more intentional, teaches them a little budgeting, and keeps the focus on the actual Disney magic. ✨

Adults can order from the kids’ menu at most Disney quick-service restaurants—and sometimes it is honestly the perfect amount of food! 🙌🏻

Kids’ meals are usually less expensive and often include a main dish, two sides and a small drink. You can even order them right through Mobile Order without having to ask!

This is especially helpful when:

✨ You only want a smaller meal
✨ You have a character dinner planned later
✨ You’re trying to stretch your Disney food budget
✨ Your kids never finish everything, so you order a couple of meals to share

Just remember that this tip is primarily for quick-service restaurants. Table-service restaurants, buffets, character meals and prix-fixe experiences have different pricing rules.

Disney food can add up SO quickly, but little choices like this can make a major difference—without making your vacation feel any less magical! 🩷

Your phone is basically your lifeline at Disney—and it drains SO much faster than you’d expect! Between checking wait times, booking Lightning Lanes, mobile ordering, taking photos and videos, using the park map, and keeping everyone entertained in line… that battery disappears quickly. 📱🪫

Definitely bring a portable charger! Since we visit Disney often, I personally love FuelRods. You can purchase one and then exchange it at kiosks throughout the parks for one that’s already fully charged—no waiting around for your portable charger to recharge! 🙌🏻

Just remember to charge your phone AND your regular portable chargers every night. Future you will be very thankful when it’s time to find your next Lightning Lane or capture that perfect castle picture! ✨
