The gently flowing waters, beautiful scenery, flumes, and tunnels create a relaxing, fun, and fascinating experience. And when we say unique, we mean it! This is the only tubing activity of this type on Kauaʻi, and Kauai Backcountry Adventures is the only eco-tour company with access to these 17,000 acres of former plantation lands.

The historic Lihue Plantation ditch and tunnel system that once irrigated vast sugar crops had been unused since sugar was taken out of production in 2000. In January 2003, Kauaʻi Backcountry Adventures opened a section for exclusive tubing tours. This water system runs through some of the most beautiful and remote lands on the island. It includes spectacular views of the ocean, coastline, mountains, and valleys. The waters that originate near the top of Mount Waialeale, one of the wettest spots in the world, are channeled through ditches and tunnels hand-dug by plantation workers over a century ago!

Endless Summer Surf School Lessons

Learn to surf with Endless Summer Surf School Kauaʻi in Poipu. At Endless Summer Surf School, they offer both group and private surfing lessons. They provide everything you need to surf in one easy lesson. Each lesson includes a 10-20 min land lesson the basics of surfing and ocean safety. The rest of the lesson is spent in the water with your surf instructor!

If you don’t want group lessons and looking for private surfing lessons, they have your back. All you need is to sign up for the private lessons, and their team will manage your learning accordingly. So to all the enthusiastic learners and a bit hesitant beginner, now is the chance to sign up for one-on-one surfing lessons.

Group Lessons
As one of their most popular offerings, they recommend signing up for a beginner surf lesson as early as possible as it tends to fill up quickly. Maximum 4 People at a time per instructor. Kids that are ages 9-10 must be strong swimmers to join a group lesson. If they are not strong swimmers they do not suggest putting them in a group lesson.

Kauaʻi Rum Safari

Join them for a 2-hour guided Rum Safari of the beautiful 105 acer Kilohana Plantation. Here you will sip on Koloa Rum, enjoy their signature Mai Tai, meet and interact with their farm animals, and have a fresh cocktail made with fruits and herbs grown right here on the plantation. Step into their one of a kind open air Safari truck and head out back into the beautiful fruit orchards where you will see exotic fruits like lychee, longan, cashew, and mango growing on the trees.

Later in the tour you might even taste some of these fruits in your farm to glass cocktail. As you pass through Elmer’s farm you will get a first-hand look at the papaya and assortment of veggies growing in the fields before they are sold at the local farmer’s market. Hold on tight as you descend down into Kahuna Nui Valley. Here you will disembark the truck for a stroll on a boardwalk through a tropical rainforest to your private oasis to taste the award-winning Koloa Rum. After tasting some rum, you will also enjoy their signature Mai Tai. Relax and enjoy your Mai Tai as you hear the river flowing past our Jungle Bungalow.
Now it’s time for a little safari. Your guide will take you to meet our heard of wild pigs, goats, and sheep. For those feeling adventurous, your guide will give you some feed to interact with the friendly animals. Take a minute to look around and enjoy the scenery. Your knowledgeable guide will fill you in on the past and present history of agriculture here on Kauai. I mean, they wouldn’t have Rum without sugarcane!

The tradition of lei making has been an important part of Hawaiian culture for centuries. Long before tourism, lei were created using native plants, flowers, shells, feathers, and seeds found throughout the islands. Each material was carefully chosen, and every lei carried its own meaning.
In ancient Hawaiʻi, lei symbolized love, respect, peace, friendship, celebration, and social status. They were exchanged to honor special occasions, welcome visitors, mark important milestones, and strengthen relationships. The way a lei was given and received reflected the Hawaiian values of aloha, generosity, and mutual respect.
Today, lei making remains a cherished tradition that connects generations to Hawaiʻi's rich cultural heritage. More than a beautiful adornment, a lei tells the story of the islands, the people, and the enduring spirit of aloha.

Ultimate Zodiac Boat Snorkel Adventure

Kauaʻi South Island Snorkel Adventure takes you on a three-hour tour to see the Queen’s Summer Home from Allerton Bay, alongside the famous Spouting Horn and, weather permitting, out to Kipu Kai. Snorkeling in Kauai is a must and we found two of the best remote snorkeling locations in sunny Poipu.

Encounter occasional dolphins, lots of turtles, and an abundance of exotic Hawaiian reef fish and eels. Snorkel Sheraton Caverns, known as Honu Hale – home of the turtles.

There is so much to see on these southern coasts in terms of pristine reefs and off-shore caverns that snorkeling in these areas becomes a true pleasure. Add to this the fact that these shorelines are mostly navigable and calm the whole year long, and you’ll soon start to appreciate the focus of Kauai Z-Tourz’ “modus operandi.” The fish in these areas are plentiful, the reefs are gorgeous, and the weather is almost always sunny and beautiful.
