On this , we’re taking it back several decades to the original Madison trolleys! These open-air trolleys were built on Winnebago chassis, meaning drivers didn’t need any special certifications or licenses to operate them. They could typically hold around 15–20 passengers and became a memorable part of the Madison experience for many years.

Today’s Madison Trolley Line carries on that tradition with enclosed, temperature-controlled trolleys that seat up to 30 passengers and include wheelchair lifts to make the experience more accessible for everyone.

We are incredibly grateful to the original team who first brought trolleys to Madison, and we are proud to continue carrying on that tradition today!

🌟 Today, we're highlighting one of the newest members of the Madison Trolley Line team, Steve! While he's only been with us a few months, he's already made a big impact. Steve brings incredible energy, a positive attitude, and is always willing to lend a helping hand. His mechanical knowledge has been especially valuable as we continue to grow and enhance the Madison Trolley Line experience.

When asked about his favorite part of the trolley, Steve didn't hesitate: the gong bell! "The children love it," he says. 🔔

One of Steve's favorite parts of the job is meeting visitors from all over the country. From Seattle, Washington, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he enjoys hearing people's stories and learning where they're from.

Thank you, Steve, for all you do to keep the Madison Trolley Line rolling! 🚎❤️

🌟You know what time it is: another staff spotlight! Mike has been with the Madison Trolley Line as a guide for the past year, and during that time, he also obtained his CDL, so he could step into the role of driver as well!

Mike has been an invaluable addition to our team, consistently building an easygoing and humorous rapport with guests that keeps them laughing long after the tour ends. Whether he’s guiding, driving, or helping wherever needed, Mike regularly goes above and beyond the call of duty to create memorable experiences for our riders.

We are incredibly grateful to have Mike aboard the Madison Trolley Line team!

🌟 Our next staff spotlight is Maddie, a talented tour guide who is also skilled behind the camera!

One of Maddie’s favorite parts of guiding trolley tours has been how the experience has deepened her own connection to Madison’s history. Maddie also loves the moments when guests aboard the trolley have personal connections to the stories being told. “One guest told me she found a relative’s initials carved into the ‘Liars’s Bench’ by the Courthouse! I love when that happens because I get to learn even more history to share with future guests.”

She believes the trolley helps visitors discover just how much Madison has to offer, from historic homes and architecture to wineries, attractions, and special events that inspire guests to keep exploring long after the tour ends.

Thank you, Maddie, for helping connect our visitors to Madison’s past and present in such a meaningful way! 🚋

🌟 Another staff spotlight: Tara! Tara (photographed on the right) has been with the Madison Trolley Line since before the Madison Trolley Line even existed! She served as our driver with the original trolleys, so she was very excited when we were able to get our new (temperature-controlled) ones! 😉

As a local school bus driver, Tara is deeply committed to creating the best possible experience for every guest who climbs aboard. She offers far more than just a friendly face; Tara greets riders like old friends, building meaningful connections that help visitors remember their time in Madison and keep them coming back for more.

Her love and passion for the trolley shine through in every interaction, and we are incredibly grateful to have Tara as part of our team! 💛
