Under our Sailcloth Tent, over 90 vendors from fifty different cities filled booth after booth with antiques and custom art at at .

We brought the Southern charm to match the Western spirit with our custom sage green bar paired with avocado toile linens, colorful stemware catching the light, and a life-size mahjong board built right into a Mahaffey dance floor.

When it was time to open the doors, used our ceremony scissors at the ribbon cutting, and through it all, every ticket, every toast, every purchase was doing something bigger - supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

This 901 Day, one man’s vision is still shaping the city we call home.

In 1973, a young entrepreneur named Frederick W. Smith looked at Memphis and saw something the rest of the world didn’t - a hub that could connect every corner of the globe, overnight. That hub became FedEx, and Memphis became the city that moves the world.

On August 11, 2026, what would have been Fred Smith’s 82nd birthday, the Memphis International Airport officially became the Frederick W. Smith International Airport. Family, city and state leaders, along with the FedEx community, gathered as the airport’s new name was unveiled.

Mahaffey was honored to provide the Garden Tent, which gave guests the perfect view of the moment Rosie, the FedEx 777 in retro livery, landed just beyond on the tarmac.

Long before a single golfer tees off at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, our crew is already out on the grounds helping create the space where fans will spend their week.

We checked in with our Senior Event Manager, MK Reaves, and Event Project Manager, Emily Thibodeaux, mid-setup to talk through what goes into a week like this and how each lounge section comes together piece by piece.

None of it happens alone, though. Our partners at Arena Americas brought in the tournament's tents, and Salem Design-Build dressed them out with the custom walls and bars that make them feel cozy and cool. We are grateful to partner with businesses that share our commitment to excellence and help bring events like this to life.

With a century of our own history in the events industry - right here in Memphis and across the nation - helping the Memphis Grizzlies bring that milestone to life at The Kent was a true honor.

Mahaffey helped transform The Kent Memphis into a space that felt just as incredible as the milestone itself. We created a glowing entrance with twinkle lights, illuminated LED bars, sleek black martini tables, and ghost barstools that brought a modern touch to the poker lounge, setting the tone for an elegant evening of celebration in the heart of downtown Memphis.
