Crested Butte in the fall has been on my bucket list for YEARS, and somehow it was even better than I imagined. 🍂🥹
We spent the last few days basically chasing aspens around the mountains: finding some stunning FREE campsites, taking our van 4WDing over high mountain passes, exploring dirt roads and scenic areas, and stopping approximately every five minutes to take a photo.
The colors around Crested Butte are currently slightly pre-peak as of September 22, with plenty of green still mixed in with the golds and oranges. Based on what we saw, I think this weekend and into next week are going to be incredible. Of course, fall color changes FAST and varies by elevation, weather and even individual groves, so there are never any guarantees.

🫎Give wildlife plenty of space
🚐Park only in designated/legal areas and don’t block roads
I already know this won’t be our last fall in Crested Butte 💛
