Desert Highlights Established in 1997, Desert Highlights is Moab's original canyoneering guide service. All of our guided tours are private and customized for your group.

We offer guided canyoneering tours, rock climbing tours and packrafting tours in Moab and surrounding areas. Desert Highlights is Moab's best guide service, offering guided canyoneering tours, rock climbing tours and packrafting tours on the Colorado River. We cater to all abilities and especially enjoy introducing beginners to the joy and beauty of canyoneering. Established in 1997, we are Moab's first canyoneering guide service and continue to offer some of the best guided tours that Southern Utah has to offer.

Meet the Desert Highlights Team!
-Kai-
Born and raised in Salt Lake City, I was fortunate to have the Wasatch mountain range right in my backyard. My parents taught me to love the outdoors early. They got me on skis at age 2! I fell in love with canyoneering in college when a family friend took me out to run a few canyons in the North Wash. I was hooked!
After graduating college I took a big road trip around the U.S. - it was exciting to adventure through the states but I missed the desert! I moved to southern Utah and after briefly pursuing a career in dental hygiene, decided to take a risk and go for what I was truly passionate about. I started guiding just outside of Zion National Park and eventually made the move to Moab to continue that. It’s been the best decision I’ve ever made. In my free time you can find me hiking around with Moki (above) or climbing some cracks with my husband, Jake!”
I’m also likely the voice on the phone if you give us a ring, or responding to your emails, and the socials lady! Nowadays I’m happy to spend most of my time in the shop, but I still put myself on a trip or two in busy seasons and of course I’m always happy to get out with folks if requested! I’ll admit I feel a bit silly posting about myself, and therefore saved my guide bio for last!
I love everything about running a small guide service with Jake (and Mo!) and am eternally grateful to have such a fantastic team to work with. 🪢

Irish Canyons!
Were rapidly approaching fall and already are starting to fill up for Sept and Oct. The Irish Canyons are a great option for those looking for a full day of canyoneering with sustained narrows, (think touching both walls most of the day!), shorter rappels, and lots of downclimbing.
