The Least Bittern is one of the most elusive of the Heron family and is rarely seen due to their camouflaged feathers that help them blend in with the grass.

We were lucky enough to spot this one eating a fairly large banded water snake for his size. He had a decision to make when we came up on him as it was too large to fly off with. He decided to eat it right there in front of us, what a hungry fella!

You never know what cool nature we may come across on a ride through the swamp, book online or call today to reserve your private ride!

One of my resident gators I call “Toofy” is a little special. Most likely due to a tussle with another alligator, he is partially missing his upper snout. Although he no longer has his nostrils and some Integumentary sensors, I see him on a regular basis looking fat and happy with all the other gators on the lake.
Toofy is a true testament to the resilience and strength that alligators possess and is a good example of why alligators have been around for so long!

Keep your eyes peeled for more than just alligators! The swamp is a host for all kinds of life including this Marsh Rabbit. These little guys are very strong swimmers and will live on little floating islands out in the swamp. These islands we call a “tusset” or in Louisiana they call them a “floataunt” can be big enough for a marsh rabbit to live their entire lives on and can contain a whole variety of animals.

It’s fuzzy season! 🐣🐥

Spring is definitely in the Florida air! It doesn’t take very long and this little Sandhills Crane will be as big as his momma!

When raising chicks, both parents are protective and attentive. The young (called colts) stay with their parents for months, learning how to forage and avoid predators. Overall, their behavior shows strong family bonds, communication, and cooperation, which are key to their survival.

All the big fellas are out today! 🐊🐊🐊
Right now is peak season to come out and see gators basking on the banks and soaking up some sunshine ☀️
As temperatures increase into the summer months, gator sightings become less frequent. This is due to their ability to regulate their body temperature in warmer water, which results in less sunbathing out of the water. And we all know how sneaky they can be in even the smallest amount of water 👀

Chilly spring mornings are a great time to see alligators laying out getting some sun before the heat of the day sets in.
Get up close and personal with the locals!
