Earlier this year, Teddy and his family booked a fishing charter with me, and Teddy was looking forward to getting out on the water and doing some fly fishing.
Unfortunately, not long after booking, they received news that no family ever wants to hear. In January, at just 27 years old, Teddy was diagnosed with Stage 4 lymphoma.
Having lost someone I love to cancer, I know how serious a diagnosis like this is and the toll it can take, not just on the person fighting it, but on the entire family.
Teddy began immunotherapy and kept fighting. Then, in April, he got to do something his family had been hoping and praying for, he rang the cancer-free bell.
It was a testament to his strength and his willingness to keep fighting.
We really never know what someone else is going through. That’s why it’s so important to support one another, show people love, and bring some positivity into their lives whenever we can. I’m lucky enough to be able to do this through my charter.
A few months later, I finally got the opportunity I had been hoping for, to take Teddy fishing, this time, healthy and cancer-free.
And let me tell you, that man can absolutely fly fish. 🎣
Way to go, Teddy. It was an honor getting you out on the water, and I hope your story reaches someone else who is going through a difficult time right now and reminds them to keep fighting. 🙏🏾🎗️
