Sometimes it’s just about solving one small problem.

This GCP2 is a simple way to bring shore power into a van. It’s a 15-amp watertight pass-through that makes it easy to plug in and charge a battery bank or other devices when parked.

Now that the snow is melting I can comfortably reminisce.

31” of snow in Plymouth and the blizzard knocked out our power, water, and heat for 3 days. Coffee was boiled outside like we were camping and electronics got charged in the camper van.

Eventually we packed up and took refuge at the shop where we made up a makeshift bedroom in the office for the night. Thankfully it had heat, water, power, and internet so we could feel some normalcy.

Experiences like this make you think about being prepared… might finally be time to install a gasoline heater in my personal van. ❄️☕🚐

Did a little (okay… a lot) of customization on this Airstream Rangeline.

Client wanted the passenger seating removed and a simplified custom bench built in its place. Clean, functional, and purpose-driven. While I was at it, we tackled the solar upgrade.

From the factory, this van had a single flexible solar panel partially shaded by the MaxxAir fan and mounted straight to the roof with double-stick tape and eight screws through the sheet metal. Wild.

I pulled the panel, filled the roof penetrations, and brought things up to a higher standard:

• roof rack
• Two 220w panels
• Cleaner layout, better performance

Between the vents and the AC unit, the rack install took some problem-solving—but the Unaka 159 Standard rackended up being the perfect fit on this 159 Extended. No wasted parts, no compromises.
