Swiss National Day in Switzerland is August 1, like our 4th of July, except Switzerland is 735 years old and their celebrations are punctuated by local farmers parading through town swinging massive cowbells. This comes from Nancy White on her trip through Grindelwald.

Here's something you don't see every day, a huge rockfall coming of the Italian side of Monte Cervino (Matterhorn). This was taken by Koeun Buck on a lunch break at Orionde hut above Cervinia, a stop on our Tour of Monte Rosa.

Luckily nobody was hurt, and trails tend to avoid dangerous areas altogether or are closed if they become dangerous. Warming temps and melting permafrost are making many of these rock faces less stable.

Grindelwald is an underrated stop. The main road is pretty busy, so you need to get beyond that, but once you get out on the trails, the mountains sure are fantastic. Lots of quiet corners and dramatic views.

Berliner hut in Austria is one of my favorite huts in the entire Alps. Built in 1878, it is grand and beautiful in every way, the hut and the landscape both. According to the hut wardens “There is a growing demand for luxury, however, we are not able to deliver”. Ha! That's ok... we'll take places like this.

Tim and Duane finishing their Bernese Oberland Traverse... "We have been having a fantastic trip. We just checked in at the Steinbock Hotel, Gasterntal. Another amazing place! Everything has been seamless. Bags on schedule and in most cases we are made feel like VIP’s at the various accommodations. And that doesn’t even take into account the most amazing scenery and hidden gem routes. Two very happy Canadians."
