Summer is in full swing in the Alps! Boots are being worn out, fondue is being eaten, flowers are in full bloom and we’re all having a fantastic time. Two weeks ago (time flies when you’re trekking the Alps!) we wrapped up our first Eiger to Matterhorn with a fantastic group. Hopefully, these photos inspire you to get out and get hiking!

On our recent Bernese Oberland traverse, Emily (.hutchins) and our guide, Wendy Shaw () stopped by the cheese farm at Obersteinberg. They meet up with Barallia, aka Spaghetti, who lives in the fields and provided the milk for some fantastic Berner Alpkäse.

I just hit up a couple titans of the Dolomites with visits to Tre Cime and Lago Sorapis. I find the intense crowds at the popular spots kind of hard accept, but have to admit, I was only grumpy for a few minutes at Tre Cime before getting on with enjoying the hike! Sorapis? Well, it sure is a pretty lake, isn't it?

We have family with kids 12 and 16 hiking around Chamonix and Courmayeur this week. This is their report.

“Glorious!” Your advice for Aiguillette des Posettes was perfect for today! Thank you!

The hotel driver dropped us off in Le Tour , and we took the Charamillon gondola up to the autannes chairlift. From there we hiked to.Col de Balme which was totally fun as the girls loved to being able to have one foot in France and one foot in Switzerland! The rains held out and the hike was just spectacular The wildflowers are gorgeous- I attached a shot below. The views are fabulous!

We just finished up and we’re having coffee at the Restaurant du Charamillon at the top of the gondola -the rain is just starting to come in so it was perfect timing. The hostess here at the café was super sweet and just gave our daughter some postcards with recipes from the region, as she was practicing her French with her!

"We don't get many Americans here" is what our innkeeper told us. This was in 2016, and I haven't been to Binntal since, but I knew it would be perfect for somebody.

One of the things we pride ourselves on is our ability to customize tours to the Alps. I've been working on a 56(!) day tour for somebody who wants to unplug and get away, so we're sending him to the Binntal, among other places.

Peaceful, beautiful, off-the-beaten-path, known mainly to Swiss as a great place for mineral hunting, Binntal is on nobody's bucket list of places to see, but still so nice.

The Haute Route is many of our guides' favorite hike and a huge part of that is the hut-to-hut adventure. Our lead guide Hayden Buck put together his thoughts on the three huts we stay in on the Haute Route, the Cabane de Louvie, Cabane Prafleuri and the Cabane de Moiry.
