Save this post for the best waterfalls and swimming holes to explore in Virginia. Remember to explore safely, conditions can change after a heavy rain. ☀️

❤️ Roaring Run Falls in George Washington National Forest is about a 1.4 mile hike round trip if you retrace your steps along the Streamside trail. The cool mountain springs are the perfect place for a summer dip, but we don't recommend climbing the upper waterfall.

❤️ Little Stony Man in Jefferson National Forest has two trail routes depending on how much hiking you want to do. The full trail round trip is about 5 miles with a shorter option from the upper access point on Forest Road 701.

❤️ Devil's Bathtub is a hike on the harder side in Jefferson National Forrest that will take you over multiple creek crossings. It's about 4 miles round trip so wear sturdy shoes with good traction for the wet rocks and water shoes. Get there early to snag a parking spot and be prepared for a cold plunge.

❤️ Rose River Falls is the cool reward at the end of a 4-mile circuit hike. Don't forget your wallet, it's $30 per car to park. If you park at Fishers Gap at mile marker 49.5 you'll find restrooms and a convenience store.

❤️ Dark Hollow Falls is a 1.5 miles round-trip out-and-back trail. It may seem short and sweet but it's a steep and rocky climb so leave your pets at home. It's one of the most-visited waters in Shenandoah National Park so get there early to grab a parking spot.

Where else can you spend the morning exploring the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, the afternoon crossing from Virginia into Tennessee on historic State Street, and the evening listening to world-class roots music?

🎻 Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion returns September 11–13, bringing Appalachian music and culture to life in the heart of downtown Bristol. If you're a fan of roots, bluegrass, folk, or Americana, this festival is the perfect reason to plan a trip.

⭐️ Mark this down: Colonial Williamsburg, the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, Yorktown Battlefield, Historic Jamestowne, and the Jamestown Settlement. Those are the sites that make up Virginia's Historic Triangle. They'll each let you step back 250 years (or more) through time, whether that's with historic interpreters, archeological digs, or engaging exhibits.

🧳 The Williamsburg Inn has upscale vibes and convenient access to Colonial Williamsburg , since it's just a few blocks from Duke of Gloucester Street.

🌊 Rather be closer to the water? Hornsby House Inn in Visit Yorktown is a block from Yorktown Beach.

☕️ In Yorktown you can walk to Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters in the morning (get the breakfast wrap).

🎢 If you love roller coasters, Busch Gardens Williamsburg is a no-brainer.

🧀 The Cheese Shop of Virginia in Williamsburg is iconic for a reason. You'll want to grab a jar (or two, or five) of the House Dressing to take home.

🍕 Discuss all the history you learned that day over pizza and lagers at Billsburg Brewery or a glass of Petit Verdot at The Williamsburg Winery.

⛱️ Spend a few hours at Yorktown Beach for calm waters, sunbathing, and spotting ships before checking out the Jamestown Settlement & American Revolution Museum at Yorktown.

⛵️ Our pro tip: Sightseeing is best on the water (and even better at sunset).
