Save this post for the best waterfalls and swimming holes to explore in Virginia. Remember to explore safely, conditions can change after a heavy rain. ☀️
❤️ Roaring Run Falls in George Washington National Forest is about a 1.4 mile hike round trip if you retrace your steps along the Streamside trail. The cool mountain springs are the perfect place for a summer dip, but we don't recommend climbing the upper waterfall.
❤️ Little Stony Man in Jefferson National Forest has two trail routes depending on how much hiking you want to do. The full trail round trip is about 5 miles with a shorter option from the upper access point on Forest Road 701.
❤️ Devil's Bathtub is a hike on the harder side in Jefferson National Forrest that will take you over multiple creek crossings. It's about 4 miles round trip so wear sturdy shoes with good traction for the wet rocks and water shoes. Get there early to snag a parking spot and be prepared for a cold plunge.
❤️ Rose River Falls is the cool reward at the end of a 4-mile circuit hike. Don't forget your wallet, it's $30 per car to park. If you park at Fishers Gap at mile marker 49.5 you'll find restrooms and a convenience store.
❤️ Dark Hollow Falls is a 1.5 miles round-trip out-and-back trail. It may seem short and sweet but it's a steep and rocky climb so leave your pets at home. It's one of the most-visited waters in Shenandoah National Park so get there early to grab a parking spot.
