The witch city is getting ready for some curious visitors…

After purchasing the home of Ed and Lorraine Warren and the Warrens' Occult Museum in Monroe last year, comedian Matt Rife and YouTuber Elton Castee are looking to take artifacts from the museum collection to Salem, Mass.

Documents from a Salem City Council meeting on March 12 note that applicant Haunted Warren Museum, LLC is intending to operate "The Haunted Warren Museum" at 259 Essex St.

According to The Salem News, there will be "14 exhibit spaces on paranormal artifacts from around the world," including the famous "Annabelle" doll.

Today is St. Patrick's Day, and it's a good time to learn about some of Vermont's connections to Ireland!

The Fenian Brotherhood was a movement in the United States that sought to establish an Irish Republic in the 19th century. It was fueled by Irish immigrants who'd fled the country, and in the post-American Civil War years, launched a series of raids into Canada from the US (including Vermont), to try and pressure the British into leaving Ireland.

Here's an item from that time: a small, tattered Fenian flag from sometime between 1875 and 1895.

We think would be a perfect opportunity to play this Black Cat Fortune Telling Game from our collection. 🐈‍⬛

This game was created by the Parker Brothers, a staple in Salem history. From simple card games to deluxe board games, the Parker Brothers have created favorite pastimes for generations of families. In the early 19th century, the brothers opened their factory on Bridge Street in Salem. By 1900, the company was the largest exporter of games in the country. Learn more about the company’s local history and see a collection of their games in our exhibition “Salem Stories,” now on view on the museum’s third level.
