Incredibly beautiful light pillars! A light pillar is an atmospheric optical phenomenon in which a vertical beam of light appears to extend above and/or below a light source. The effect is created by the reflection of light from tiny ice crystals that are suspended in the atmosphere or that comprise high-altitude clouds.

These lights tend to take on the color of the light source. "They appear as beams of light to the observer. It is usually caused by street lights.

Here is some information about the deadly wildfires in Hawaii. My heart and prayers are with the people who live there, the families of the 36 killed, the injured, and those who are already traveling there.

There are still many areas that have not been affected, but anyone with travel to these areas should contact their airlines or their travel agents to make the necessary changes or cancellations.

I am again strongly urging anyone with expensive travel plans not to go without travel insurance. Cruise insurance is NOT enough if you are planning one. The changing of these flight itineraries by the airlines does NOT include Basic Economy fares, and emergency care and transportation is also not covered without the protection. You really need to budget this into your travel costs. Be sure to ask what exactly is (not) covered when you are making reservations.
