An Alaska cruise isn't just an Alaska cruise.

The ship you choose matters. The route matters. Even which glaciers you're actually permitted to visit matters.

If Glacier Bay National Park is on your wish list (and I truly think it should be), don't assume every itinerary includes it. Access is limited, highly regulated, and not every cruise line has the permits.

One of the reasons I often recommend Princess for Alaska is their strong presence in the region and the ability to pair an Inside Passage sailing with a cruisetour into Denali. You don't have to choose between seeing Alaska by sea or experiencing it on land.

Tiny teepees. Bubble bath skylines. Bakery boxes that mysteriously empty themselves.

Children have a remarkable way of experiencing a hotel. They don't notice the design details or debate whether the service was Forbes-worthy. They remember secret forts, city views from the bathtub, and pastries eaten before the grown-ups have had coffee.

Some trips are beautiful because of the destination.

This Hawaii itinerary is a perfect example of that.

Nantucket in the summer has a very specific rhythm to it.
