If it’s been longer than you’d like to admit since your last avalanche course, it might be time for a reset.

The AIARE 1 Refresher is a one-day course geared toward folks who have had some avalanche education but need to knock the rust off. It costs less than a day at many major resorts and gives you the chance to get back into the field, rebuild confidence, and start the season with partners who are on the same page.

We’re offering 3 AIARE 1 Refresher courses this season: Jan 17 (Women’s, Snoqualmie Pass), Jan 23 (Snoqualmie Pass), and Jan 30 (Stevens Pass). Join us!

The climbing may be behind them, but the adventure isn't over yet! After a well-earned rest day at Ama Dablam Base Camp, our team is heading back down through the Khumbu, with stops in Namche and Lukla before returning to Kathmandu.

In the meantime, enjoy a fresh batch of photos from , sent our way overnight. Hard to beat these Himalayan views!

Summit success on Ama Dablam! , Ben, and Thunang all reached the summit just a few minutes ago and are now making their way down to Camp 2.

We’ll have photos from the team tomorrow, but in the meantime, Ron, who is trekking to Everest Base Camp, captured this incredible early-morning view of teams high on the mountain. Thanks to Ron for sharing this fantastic shot, amazing!

Meet your Mountain Madness guide, Patrick Lane!

Patrick grew up skiing around Donner Summit in California, where he raced in high school and spent nearly a decade teaching inbounds skiing. About 12 years ago, while stationed in the PNW as a Navy diver, he got into backcountry touring and started pushing himself to ski bigger mountains like Adams, Rainier, Whitney, and Shasta.

This will be Patrick’s 4th season teaching AIARE courses, all here in the PNW. His favorite part? Watching students put their new skills to work on a tour and work together as a team to manage avalanche risk.

Patrick is an AMGA Certified Rock Guide, Assistant Alpine Guide, Assistant Ski Guide, certified AIARE Avalanche Instructor, Wilderness First Responder, and Navy veteran. This winter, he’ll be taking his AIARE Pro 2 course with the goal of leading AIARE courses in the future.

Great photos from Alejo Lazzati over the weekend as our Ama Dablam team made their carry to Camp 1! Everything went smoothly, and the team enjoyed a well-earned rest day today. They're now just a couple of days away from their summit attempt!

Our Snowman Trekkers are closing in on the finish line in Bhutan!

After 21 days of trekking through remote valleys and over high mountain passes, our lead team has just crossed Rinchen Zoe La at 17,470 feet (5,326 meters), with only three more days on the trail!

Connectivity is pretty limited out there, but we've managed to get a few photos from our custom Snowman Trek group, who are following close behind and have a well-earned rest day coming up tomorrow.
