Meet Robyn Benincasa and Jeff Akens — retired San Diego firefighters, passionate adventurers, and the heart behind The Sanctuary at Sacred Mesa. When they’re not enhancing your stay at "the castle," they’re dedicating their time to Project Athena Foundation, a nonprofit helping survivors of medical or traumatic setbacks live out adventurous dreams (as featured on CNN Heroes).

Now living in Arizona, their next chapter includes creating Valentine Ranch, an animal sanctuary named after their beloved rescue dog, to give love and shelter to animals in need — just across the road from The Sanctuary.
