The old SPPD team is a well oiled Coho killer. Their limit plus I'm keeping one or maybe more since it's so gorgeous out to stay fishing. Some of the Coho were good bait fish eaters as they were significantly bigger already.

It's a special day when the 15 fish limit was caught by 7 AM! The captain and first mate got 7 more trolling back to save fuel. Much appreciated group decision on a perfect opener to our charter season! Cohos, kings and rainbows this morning.

Not every day is this special but I figure every trip is a honor to take our guests out fishing so I will always post!

We finished near the brat factory(inside joke) in 60 to 80 fow.

While waiting for the lake to warm up a bit and "silver fish" to show up i thought it would be a good to share some light fishing humor. These are a few of good luck and bad luck tactics we use for charters and tournament fishing.

I'm starting with the bad luck ideas. Hands down no bananas! We had guests from New Zealand to Norway in total agreement with this world wide superstition. Honorable mention is winning shake of the day right before a trip and partying too hard before leaving the dock late. Also, talking about getting another limit catch and how great the boat running is taboo.

The good luck plans to pound fish: A slow roll the night before with an on time arrival never hurts! That being said, beer seems to help get bites and I even donate one to the fish by pouring it into the lake near our rods. The diver rods and downriggers need to be set using odd numbers.

I also like Banana Boat sunscreen for obvious reasons. Tossing a coin at the rigger rod is also used to bring luck.

Did I miss anything? The weather forecast looks awesome so things could turn into amazing fishing shortly.

Good morning from the Sheboygan River!

It's pretty cool having the Weather Center coffee shop(809 Riverfront Dr.) about 15 feet behind our boat's stern. The additional reason for the post is to provide a reminder that we are no longer in the marina, with a much simpler pick up location behind the coffee shop. The Wharf bait shop is also very close by so no need to drive anywhere to get fish cleaned. That being said, there are no available bathrooms at the time we leave in the morning, so please plan ahead.

I also want to share that Harbor Winds Hotel is within walking distance of our boat and guests had reported positive experiences with a charter boat discount. I don't receive any compensation from any hotels so it's only honest information.

Lastly, I occasionally receive a request from people looking to share a charter. Shared charters are very common in some fishing venues but kinda of rare here. I fish with some pretty cool people and if anyone wants to use Facebook to help coordinate a trip, that sounds like a great idea me. I never offered this before so I'm looking for input.

Enjoy the summer weather today as we are planning to do in Shevegas!

Hello fishing friends!

The start of our lucky 13th season is getting close and it looks like warm weather should arrive this weekend! Think coho swimming north bound towards Sheboygan as the water warms up too!

Today's post is going to be about a "stressful topic" that we can't control for any outdoor activity. The issue of weather is applies to anything involving getting fresh air. The big concern is predicting strong wind and storms.

I really appreciate referrals and don't rely on one time 3rd party bookings. That being said, only a few hard core fishing friends will come back after being seasick and I don't blame them because the fishing probably wasn't great in rough conditions either. I try to be more conservative on calling it off for moderate waves for that reason alone. It's the ultimate losing situation because of the frustration everyone feels in not going fishing for a cancelation or the frustration in "forcing" a trip with seasick guests. Obviously we do need to fish in some level of waves but I don't often see the seasick person wanting to rebook with their family/friends. I often hear that complaint that they went fishing in super rough conditions, even ocean conditions, and they are forever not going again.

I realize people do travel to Sheboygan and I try really hard to communicate regarding potential weather. I'm not in the lodging business and don't want guests to waste travel money. I appreciate the understanding that all outdoor sports are affected by weather and on the positive side, rain doesn't affect us much since we have an enclosed area on the boat! I also had plenty of great catches in steady rain.

I'm opening up this difficult post for discussion and truly want weeks of sunny non northeast wind this year. I know last year some of weather rebook trips produced some amazing fishing trips. Thanks for following and help us make the best experience possible. I really enjoy seeing familiar faces returning each summer!

Worked the Honda from inside the harbor to the chapel. The brown hit near the Pigeon River. Hopefully our Coho friends keep swimming north from southern Wisconsin as the cold water warms up. Thanks for following.

Today's shake down run with the brand new Honda. No bites yet but it's early season Brown Trout game right now. Basically grateful everything is working!

It's a gorgeous day and I'm certain there's more to come this summer out on our freshwater sea. I didn't post an attention picture with the hope of people reading this message and posting their own favorite trip picture! I don't pay to advertise so I kindly ask for the interaction.

The boat launch crew is lined up for April 26th launch, the day after I help fry fish(probably enjoy a free beer too) for SPPD police union fundraiser.

June 6th weekend does not require a fishing license. I have a rare Father's Day fishing opening since a longtime repeat fishing family picked an earlier weekend this year.

I have a lot of excellent other captain's and fishermen following this post. I again appreciate all shared information and look forward to seeing everyone.

Now lets talk our trips. I know some people dislike the early departure time and I honestly don't love getting up early too. The only reason going stupid early is it's generally the best bite and at the end of each trip everyone keeps track of their fish in the cooler. I don't want to miss this opportunity anymore than spotting the opposing NFL team 10 points(politically correct- as I'm a Packer fan)!

I also run 7 hours with typically only 1 daily trip booked. To be honest, twin 454s get about 1 mpg but trolling with the Honda helps the bottom line. A short 3 hour trip would not be cost effective since running the big V8s burn a lot of gas.

Thanks again for following us and I'm excited about the transition to boat life. The school sports/field trips are filling up the May calendar. I would prefer to be entertaining on the floating "yellow bus"...hint.

Thanks again.

Fishing in a small local boat offshore in Fiji this morning(it's 3-31). The captain was fun but no bites. We trolled and cast off reefs and it brought memories throwing a heavy Muskie bait with second mate Tim Mason...work without success. The highlights were fishing between Tom Hanks movie Castaway island and Fiji Survivor Island which is actively filming this week. It would be a bit brutal not having AC for the cast members.

I 100 percent agree with wanting to book a charter while on vacation and also understand the privilege to accept clients' trust to put people on fish. Thank you for trusting us to work in landing fish, especially since we don't have exotic islands to point out!
