Ybor City Food Tours is the first YEAR-ROUND guided walking tour that combines food and fun. We take you through a food adventure that will explore the historical facts about our town and indulge your taste buds with the most delightful food in Tampa! Chicago is known for it’s hot dogs, and italian beef sandwiches, New Orleans for it’s po’ boy, New York stakes it claim on it’s pizza. The Cuban Sandwich!! The Cuban Sandwich was originally called the “mixto-ham, roast pork, swiss cheese, mustard – and made for Ybor City cigar workers” Sicilians and immigrants from other parts of Italy joined Spanish and Cuban immigrants in the cigar factories, and Genoa salami was added, transforming the “mixto” into the Cuban Sandwich. But it is the bread from La Segunda Central Bakery that makes an authentic Cuban Sandwich. We experience this great tasting sandwich along with introducing you to other iconic foods of Ybor City from 4-5 restaurants, which help make this a mouth-watering tour. Join us as we walk and savor the traditional tastes of Ybor City along with new and exciting food experiences.

A day late for National Cuban Sandwich Day. About 111 years on time for this one. 🥖

Columbia’s Original Cuban Sandwich has been made from Casimiro Hernandez Sr.’s 1915 recipe for more than a century, but its story belongs to all of Tampa. 📝

Its layers reflect the immigrants who built Ybor City: ham from the Spanish, Genoa salami from the Sicilians, mojo-marinated roast pork from the Cubans and Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard from German and Jewish immigrants. All layered on Tampa Cuban bread and pressed until crisp. 🥪

A sandwich that tastes like the city that created it. ❤️

We may have missed yesterday’s celebration, but this Tampa treasure deserves more than one day anyway.
