Hidden deep within Death Valley’s jagged Devil’s Golf Course lies a legendary, forgotten oasis: Pluto’s Pool (or Pluto’s Salt Pools). 🕳️💧Back in the early 20th century, local promoters loved giving the park ominous, underworld-themed names to lean into its brutal environment. Named after Pluto (the Roman god of the underworld) these hyper-saline pools look like tiny, crystal-clear windows into the subterranean deep. They fit right in with neighbors like Dante’s View, Hell’s Gate, and Coffin Canyon! While changes in the salt flats over the decades mean these exact vintage tourist spots have shifted or dried up, the hauntingly beautiful landscape of the Devil’s Golf Course remains as surreal as ever.
