Whelp, after a nearly two week run of dry dock for our vessel, Mjölnir, our first charter back was one for the books! The seas were as wild as the fishing, but well worth it. We had such a great catch, there are another ~dozen fish that didn’t fit on the dock for the photo… stoked to be back on the water again!

I wanted to get on FB and talk with all my current and hopefully future clients. I have always tried to be as honest about the conditions that we will face, whether it is THE weather (wind and waves) or the expected bite. The fishing in Maui 2026 has not been very good. Don't get me wrong, we have had a few phenomenal days, but the vast number of trips we have been hard pressed to get a couple fish on the boat. This is most likely due to the abnormal water conditions that we have been facing this year (Super El Nino) . If your expectation is large numbers of Pelagic Fish then I would rather you don't spend your hard earned money on my trips (spend it on beach days and incredible restaurants). Catching great big and huge numbers of fish might happen.... We have had some WILD trips this year....I really hope your trip will produce. If your expectation is to go out on the ocean and see what Mother Nature has in store for us, then I promise to do my absolute best to make the trip as enjoyable as I can and will continue to my best to find fish.

Well this was an epic fish to land on light tackle! Paige, her sister Zoe and their father Loren had a remarkable bottom fishing trip- and landed this dozer of an Uku with a single piece of cut squid on our lightest bottom fishing gear. Usually we don’t see Uku this size unless we drop live opelu to the deep- but sometimes all you need is a 1.5” piece of squid dropped to 130 feet! Awesome day with this crew.

Well this was one for the books! Through Captain Thor’s perseverance, we finally found a buoy that was holding a ton of fish, after striking out at four buoys earlier in the day. Four mahi four shibi and an Aku were landed, with the Aku being released after a few photos. Scott, Keegan and Jayden were all amped and made this trip a blast. See you boys next year!

Dinner from the deep! Our four hour bottom fishing trips are not only fun and easy for the whole family, but can provide a very delicious meal that you won’t be able to experience in a restaurant. We had two nice medium size Uku (grey snapper/ green jobfish) to start the day off, and ended with an absolute dozer Weke (goatfish)! Fun fighting fish for light tackle spinning gear.

What an incredible day of fishing with Seth and his son Everett! First thing in the morning we hooked into two playful striped marlin, getting one to the boat for a quick release. Shortly after, Everett got to fight his first yellowfin tuna, which we also released so it could grow. Over the next few hours we brought up a beautiful 25 lb mahi, hard fighting Aku, and finished the day off with a feisty Ono. Getting five pelagic game fish in a single charter is epic, and we hope this means the fishing will continue to ramp up for us!
