Day two with Rob and Mica, who brought friends Julie, Steve, Landon and Jessie. The fish were hard to find and fought hard, but we still ended the day with success. Perhaps the best part of this trip was the stories that were shared. Nearly 20 years ago, Jackie, who was a triathlete, was swimming laps north of Black Rock in Ka’anapali and nearly lost her arm in a tiger shark attack. Her wrist was almost entirely severed, and the other side of the shark’s jaw wrapped around her shoulder, landing her in the hospital for three days during what was supposed to be a relaxing Hawaiian vacation. Fast forward two decades, and she is still a badass athlete who has the incredible strength to land several mahi on her own. One of my wildest stories I’ve heard on the boat, and overall top five favorite groups of people we have had the pleasure to spend the day fishing with. We have plenty of openings over the next several weeks and I would love to hear your stories while we’re out enjoying a morning on the water!
