Sometimes the most valuable part of planning a trip isn’t choosing the hotel. It’s knowing what you can’t see online.

A client recently came to us having found a hotel they loved. It was a beautiful property and, on paper, it seemed to tick every box.

Having stayed there ourselves, we knew there were a few things that would shape the experience. In summer, the destination has a wonderful beach-town atmosphere. In winter, it feels entirely different. We also knew that the walk into town is steeper than it appears, something that wouldn’t suit every traveller.

None of those details make it the wrong hotel. They just made it the wrong hotel for this particular trip.
So we suggested somewhere else.

The best recommendations aren’t always about finding somewhere better. More often, they’re about finding somewhere that fits your travel style, the season, and the experience you’re hoping to have.

Those are the details that rarely appear in a brochure, but they’re often the ones you’ll remember.

Vietnam & Cambodia: From Lantern Streets to Mekong Waters

One of the things we love most about designing journeys through Vietnam and Cambodia is the variety of experiences that can be woven into a single trip.

A recent itinerary included exploring Hanoi’s street-food scene and learning family recipes during a hands-on cooking experience, wandering the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An, and attending the extraordinary Teh Dar performance, which brings Vietnam’s tribal cultures to life through music, storytelling and acrobatics.

Further south, guests uncovered hidden wartime bunkers in Ho Chi Minh City before travelling by speedboat along the Saigon River.

The journey then slowed aboard an elegant Mekong cruise, passing floating villages and riverside communities en route to Phnom Penh, where local markets and the city’s French colonial heritage offered a fascinating introduction to Cambodia.
