It’s mating season for the Cape Sugarbird 🐦💛

With their long tails streaming behind them, these nectar-loving birds are a spectacle in the fynbos right now across the Cape province. Males put on dazzling display flights to impress the females — all while feasting on protea nectar. 🇿🇦 South Africa’s National Bird Needs Our Attention

Graceful, striking, and deeply symbolic — the Blue Crane has long held a special place in South Africa’s heart. Sadly after a sharp population decline since 2010, it’s now officially listed as vulnerable.

The Overberg region in the Western Cape — once a stronghold — has been hardest hit, with major threats including habitat disturbance, poisoning, power line collisions, and climate change.

Thankfully, a conservation plan is in motion to protect this iconic species and ensure it still dances through our grasslands for generations to come. 💙

Every first Thursday of the month, Cape Town transforms as the city shuts down traffic in favour of pedestrian walking areas, galleries and shops stay open until much later, restaurants serve up specials, and live music pours into the streets. This is a wonderful and authentic local experience.

By day, you could be paddling alongside dolphins at sunrise — by night, sipping wine in a contemporary gallery surrounded by African art. We just love how versatile “The Mother City” is!

🌿 THE OKAVANGO DELTA, BOTSWANA 🐘💦
