After a much-needed rest, I’m back with new rockpooling dates! ❤️ Contact me to book your spots for 21 Feb or 1 March. Groups are capped at 12 people, and are for adults and children 7 years and older. Cost is R200 per person but as ever, if you can’t afford it, DM me! Hi all, my rockpooling tours are on pause for a couple of months while I try to rest and build resilience back up. In the meantime, I highly recommend exploring rockpools on your own! Books like the Two Oceans guidebook and the new book, and the iNaturalist app are great resources for figuring out what you’re seeing. If you sit next to a tide pool for 5 minutes, things you thought were plants might start moving, and your eyes will adjust to more and more detail.

So excited to get stuck into these books! Particularly so that I can learn the Afrikaans and isiXhosa words for things we see in the tidepools 😍The Explore the Shore book complements the YouTube channel and is choc-a-block full with interesting info. Christmas present ideas, anyone?
Emeritus Professor Charles Griffiths lectured me at the University of Cape Town and in the last pic you can see me on a 1st year rocky shore fieldtrip to Dalebrook, Kalk Bay, thrilled to have received his autograph in my family copy of Two Oceans. I was meeting a hero! His son Matthew Griffiths has worked with him to create this wonderful YouTube series and book, and the “My first book of southern African seashore life” book was written by his late wife (Matt’s mum) Roberta Griffiths. The latter book was also illustrated by Judy Maré, the sister of another marine biology great, Margo Branch.
