With its creamy body covered in bold black polka dots, this reef resident is basically the fashion icon of the Great Barrier Reef.

Did you know? 🤔
They are "protogynous hermaphrodites"... but what does that mean? It means that they start life as females, and then larger individuals turn into males later in life!

Humpback whales are in the waters of Cairns! 🐋

Every year during whale season, these incredible giants migrate through the Great Barrier Reef. Fun fact: humpback whales can weigh up to 40 tonnes and still leap completely out of the water in spectacular breaches!

Ever seen something this hypnotising on the reef? 🌊✨
Meet the Moon Jellyfish — drifting with the currents like a living lava lamp.

These jellies don’t chase their food… they just float and let tiny plankton come to them. Simple, but seriously effective.

Fun fact 👉 Those four little circles you can see inside? That’s their stomach!

Keep your eyes open next time you’re out on the reef — you never know what might be floating by 👀
