Outback Pioneers invites everyone to come to Longreach and discover the heritage and pioneering spirit of outback Queensland. Step into pioneers shoes for holidays and experiences that entertain, educate and inspire. Owned and managed by the Kinnon family, Outback Pioneers reflects their love of the outback lifestyle and dedication to preserving it for future generations. What began in 2006 as a w

ay to diversify the family’s grazing business in times of drought has become a passion to share Australia’s iconic heritage with visitors. Between the months of April-October come and unleash your pioneering spirit with Outback Pioneers. The only place in Australia you can gallop in a Cobb & Co stagecoach along part of an old mail route, see the Harry Redford Old Time Tent Show and much more. You can also take a sunset cruise on the Thomson River to a stockman’s dinner around the campfire plus visit the Kinnon’s historic, working Nogo Station where Captain Starlight kept his stolen cattle and where station life continues to defy drought and distance. In Longreach, the Kinnon & Co Station Store and The Welcome Home are further attractions and the Outback Pioneers booking office is in The Welcome Home building at 128 Eagle Street. As Father’s Day draws to a close, a quiet moment out in the paddock.

Here’s to all the dads, grandads and father figures who pass on more than they probably realise — a bit of wisdom, a few good stories, a strong work ethic and a love for the people and places that matter.

Happy Father’s Day from the Kinnon family and all of us at Outback Pioneers.

There’s something pretty special about first light in the bush. Our Nogo Merinos quietly grazing as the sun rises. It’s not staged or polished. It’s simply life on the land – and a little glimpse of the country we’re lucky to call home.

Feel the dust, hear the hooves and travel a stretch of the old Longreach-Windorah mail track, just as travellers did more than a century ago. This is history you don’t just hear about. You experience it.

This little Jacky Lizard was spotted recently while out on a Nogo Station water run.

They can be easy to miss, but these little bush characters have a few clever tricks when trouble comes their way. A Jacky can flatten its body to look bigger, puff itself up and open its mouth to put on quite a show.

And if that doesn’t work, it can even drop its tail to distract a predator while it makes a quick getaway.

There’s always something interesting to spot when you’re out and about on the station.

Our Winton Discovery Day Tour is a big day — and it’s absolutely worth it.

Travel from Longreach to Winton on a Saturday and settle in for a day of dinosaurs, outback history, local stories and country hospitality.

Along the way, you’ll enjoy stories about the land and the people who make the outback what it is today, with a relaxed smoko stop and our own home-baked ANZAC biscuits to keep you going. Lunch is at the legendary North Gregory Hotel.

It’s hearty, memorable and full of discovery.

Join us on Saturdays for the Winton Discovery Day Tour

Real Outback, Real Stories – the best outback stories are told by the people who live them.

On the Nogo Station Experience, you’ll meet Jeremy Kinnon, and trusty mate, Banjo, for a morning of lived stories, wool history, open plains and real outback hospitality.

From the historic shearing shed to the wide country beyond, this is a chance to see another side of Longreach — not staged, not polished, just honest station life shared with warmth and humour.

Nogo Station runs every Tuesday and Friday. Come and experience it for yourself.

Hold your horses… it’s their birthday!

Did you know that 1 August is the official birthday of horses across Australia? The tradition began to make race and breeding age groups easier to manage—regardless of the day each horse was actually born.

Wh**ey is happy to accept all birthday wishes… and possibly an extra treat or two. 🐴🎂

Happy birthday to Wh**ey and all our wonderful Cobb & Co horses!
