🌧️💛 A little update from us…

We know it’s been a bit quiet on our socials lately — sorry about that! With all the recent flooding in the region, our crew has been flat out behind the scenes reorganising tour schedules and looking after our guests.

Unfortunately, due to the wet weather, our much-loved Starlight’s Cruise Experience and Nogo Station Experience is not available until later this month.

RAIN DELAYS OUR SEASON START

The Outback has been both blessed and challenged by heavy rainfall. Our hearts go out to the families, graziers, workers, and businesses doing it tough—especially those facing stock losses and the devastating impacts on their livelihoods. We’re thinking of you.

While this rain is life-giving, it has also brought disruption—cutting roads, halting travel, and impacting communities across the region. Unfortunately, this means we have to delay the start of our tour season until conditions improve.

But when the waters recede, the Outback will be more breathtaking than ever. We encourage you to reschedule, not cancel—your visit will help communities recover, businesses rebuild, and families get back on their feet.

Thank you for your understanding and support. Stay safe, and we can’t wait to welcome you soon!

WATERFRONT VIEWS, ANYONE?

The floodwaters from Northern Queensland have made their way to the Thomson River, Longreach and let’s just say… we’ve got plenty of water to go around!

Our Starlight’s Cruise river camp is underwater. But don’t worry—we’ve been here before, and our crew knows how to handle a little (or a lot of) extra H2O!
..And here’s a first—when have you ever had to walk up the gangplank to board the Thomson Belle paddlewheeler? 🤔

The good news? The waters will recede, and we’ll be back to normal in no time, ready to welcome you for our season opening in April.

A tribute to John Morrison

It is with sadness that we share the passing of John Morrison, who passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, 14 January 2025.

John Morrison was more than an artist; he was a storyteller and a true friend to Richard and Marisse Kinnon and so many others in Longreach and beyond. His deep connection to Outback Queensland shone through in everything he created, from his breathtaking paintings displayed at The Welcome Home to his magical illustrations for the 'Starlight’s Sound and Light Show Spectacular'. John had a gift for capturing the heart and soul of the bush, its people, and its stories.

Born in Charters Towers, John’s journey was anything but ordinary. He wore many hats—artist, writer, potter, teacher, even dentist! But his heart always brought him back to his art and the landscapes he loved so much. Whether he was painting the Carnarvon Ranges or mentoring young artists, John’s passion and generosity left a lasting mark.

He’ll be dearly missed, but his spirit lives on in every brushstroke and story he shared.
