🎬🍿 MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2026 — SEE MORE. MOVE MORE. ENJOY MELBOURNE. 🚘✨
If you love movies, Melbourne in August is the place to be.
The 74th Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) is taking over Melbourne from 6–23 August 2026, bringing an extraordinary program of international films, Australian stories, premieres, documentaries, special events, talks, immersive experiences and plenty of films you simply won’t find in your everyday cinema.
And here’s something many people don’t think about when planning their MIFF experience…
The films aren’t all playing in one cinema.
They are spread right across Melbourne.
🎥 ACMI at Federation Square
🎥 The Capitol on Swanston Street
🎥 Forum Melbourne on Flinders Street
🎥 Kino Cinema on Collins Street
🎥 Cinema Nova in Carlton
🎥 IMAX Melbourne at Melbourne Museum
🎥 The Astor Theatre in St Kilda
🎥 Village Cinemas Crown in Southbank
🎥 HOYTS Melbourne Central
🎥 The Wheeler Centre
🎥 and specialist MIFF venues and immersive spaces around Melbourne.
The official MIFF schedule even allows you to search screenings by venue, date, time, genre and other categories — which gives you an enormous choice, but also means planning your day properly can become a bit of a logistical exercise. (MIFF 2026)
🎬 SO WHAT COULD YOUR MIFF DAY LOOK LIKE?
Imagine getting a group of four or five friends together.
Rather than everyone driving separately into Melbourne…
Rather than trying to find parking…
Rather than walking several blocks between cinemas…
Rather than standing around waiting for public transport after a late screening…
Craig’s Private Tours can become your private MIFF driver for the day. 🚘
We can collect your group from home, your hotel or another Melbourne location and build the day around the films you actually want to see.
For example…
🎥 2:45pm — MINOTAUR
Head to Forum Melbourne for Andrey Zvyagintsev’s Minotaur, the Cannes Grand Prix winner. The film runs for 141 minutes and is a dark, powerful thriller set against contemporary Russia. (MIFF 2026)
When the film finishes, your CPT driver is waiting outside.
No searching for your car.
No worrying about parking.
No need to navigate Melbourne traffic yourself.
We simply move on to your next destination.
🚘 Forum → another Melbourne venue → dinner → evening screening
Perhaps your next choice is Bitter Christmas, Pedro Almodóvar’s latest film, screening at The Capitol at 9:15pm on Wednesday 12 August. The film runs for 111 minutes. (MIFF 2026)
Or perhaps your group wants something completely different.
Maybe an Australian documentary.
Maybe an international drama.
Maybe a classic restoration.
Maybe something experimental.
Maybe a film you’ve never heard of but the MIFF program has convinced you that you simply HAVE to see it.
That is the beauty of MIFF.
You choose the movies. We take care of the movement between them.
🎞️ AND THERE ARE SOME SERIOUSLY INTERESTING FILMS THIS YEAR
How about Forgotten Island?
This new DreamWorks animated adventure features an incredible voice cast including H.E.R., Liza Soberano, Manny Jacinto, Ronny Chieng and Lea Salonga, and explores Filipino mythology through a fantastical story about two friends and a mysterious island.
The MIFF Family Gala screening is at HOYTS Melbourne Central at 1:00pm on Saturday 15 August. (MIFF 2026)
Or perhaps Sheep in the Box, Hirokazu Kore-eda’s new science-fiction-inflected drama, screening at Forum at 10:00am on Sunday 16 August.
Afterwards, your group could head across Melbourne for lunch, explore another part of the city and then continue to another screening later in the afternoon or evening. (MIFF 2026)
And then there are the immersive experiences.
MIFF isn’t just about sitting in a traditional cinema.
There are XR and immersive works, including The Awake, Sense of Nowhere, The Dollhouse and Firestorm, with sessions running at specialist MIFF venues such as ACMI Swinburne Studio and the LED Volume Studio. (MIFF 2026)
🚘 THIS IS WHERE PRIVATE DRIVING MAKES SENSE

🏨 Return to your hotel or home
One vehicle. One driver. One group. One very easy day.
And because Craig’s Private Tours specialises in small private groups of up to five guests, you don’t have to share your day with strangers.
You choose who comes.
You choose the films.
You choose the food.
You choose the pace.
We handle the driving.
Melbourne’s major MIFF venues are relatively close together geographically, but getting between them at busy festival times is a completely different story. A journey that looks simple on a map can involve parking, walking, traffic, trams, crowds and waiting around.
With a private CPT vehicle, you can use the gaps between screenings properly.
A 20–30 minute transfer between venues can become your opportunity to relax, talk about the movie you’ve just seen and get ready for the next one — rather than worrying about how you’re going to get there.
And if you’re planning multiple screenings across six, eight or even ten hours, that convenience really starts to matter.
