One of the many advantages of small-ship cruising aboard Ponant’s Le Dumont-d’Urville is the ability to access places and ports that larger ships simply can’t reach.
Our captain was able to alter course and take us on a spectacular navigation of Mount Stromboli on Stromboli Island — one of Italy’s four active volcanoes. The views were incredible, and on some days, you can see lava flowing down its slopes.
I also had the opportunity to visit the bridge, where we were fortunate enough to capture a pod putting on a show in front of the ship — a truly memorable experience!
