AI Support for Regional Small Businesses – SA Government Initiative
The South Australian Government, through the Department of State Development (Office for Small and Family Business), has launched the AI Capability Pilot Program to help small and family businesses build confidence and capability with artificial intelligence.

This program is designed for South Australian businesses with fewer than 20 employees and focuses on practical, real‑world ways AI can help save time, lift productivity and support better business decisions — without the hype.

What participating businesses receive:
• A hands‑on AI Build Day
• Tailored one‑to‑one coaching for your business
• Ongoing access to guidance and resources to support safe and ethical AI use, including privacy and cyber basics

This SA Government‑backed pilot is particularly relevant for regional businesses, helping ensure they’re not left behind as AI becomes part of everyday business operations.

Well done to the organisers who have put so much work into getting this event up and running this year!
Normally, our business association runs this event, but as we are currently in recess, we’re delighted to see it continue thanks to their dedication and effort. In particular, we recognise Mon Crossling’s tireless efforts in making this entire event happen as well as Kayla Wellington's amazing decoration skills in Santa's Cave.

Small Businesses are invited to attend Small Business Sustainability Workshop, Hosted by Regional Development Australia Limestone Coast, 2XE and the Office for Small and Family Business. It is designed to assist you in understanding what sustainability means for your business, while developing practical tools that will help you to take action.

The business landscape is shifting. Costs are rising. Customers are changing. And more and more, bigger companies and government buyers are asking small businesses to show how they’re reducing their environmental impact. But what does that actually mean in practice? How do things like energy costs, use, waste, or suppliers affect your emissions — and what can you do about it without hurting your bottom line?

This hands-on workshop is designed specifically for small businesses — including those in hospitality, tourism and retail — who want to survive and thrive in a changing environment.

You’ll walk away with:
- A practical understanding of how sustainability applies to your business.
- Key opportunities to reduce emissions, energy use and waste — and save money doing it.
- Tools to identify and access useful data for tracking your business’ footprint.
- A free 1-on-1 follow-up session to review your specific business setup and systems.

Eligibility: Open to South Australian small business owners with fewer than 20 full-time equivalent staff, or any size family-owned business not already in a SA Government sustainability support program.
