Confession time... I think I have a trip-planning obsession. ๐
The moment I decide where Iโm going, the planning beginsโฆ.
Out comes the spreadsheet, and not just a simple one. It includes flights, ferries, accommodation, maps, booking links, confirmation numbers, costs and every little detail I can think of. Then the months of tweaking starts.
Iโll change hotels because I found a better view, a better location or a better deal. Iโll shuffle dates because a ferry timetable changed or Iโve decided to add another destination. Thatโs why I almost always book accommodation with free cancellation. I know thereโs a very good chance Iโll change my mind before I leave!
And donโt get me started on flights...
Iโm a window-seat girl, and Iโll keep checking the seat map right up until online check-in opens, hoping the middle seat beside me is still empty. If not, Iโll often move to another row and try my luck there. Does it always work? No. Do I still do it every single trip? Absolutely!
Some people probably think this sounds exhausting. For me itโs all part of the adventure and feeling like Iโm already immersed in the trip, long before I leave. Planning gives me confidence that everything will run smoothly, and I genuinely enjoy every minute of it. So far, itโs panned out well. All my solo travels - even 3 months in Europe in 2023 - ran seamlessly without a single issue!
So tell me...
Are you a fellow planner, or do you book a flight and just wing it? โ๏ธ
