In my twenties, I was lucky enough to begin my journey of travelling abroad. Since then, I have always believed that travel is about connecting with people and discovering new perspectives.

During my walking tours, I have had the pleasure of welcoming young travellers, from teenagers and school students to even little ones still in their parents’ arms. They join my tours after long hours of flights. Sharing those precious 2.5 hours with them is always a special experience.

Through their sparkling eyes, I see their curiosity and excitement as they explore a new city. I listen to their stories, their friendships across cultures, and I am often amazed by their confidence and knowledge at such a young age.

One thing I always do as a guide is to keep my tours fresh and evolving. I update them with the latest stories happening in the city and share how Chinese people’s lifestyles, ideas, and perspectives continue to change. Every visit is different, you will never simply join the same tour again.

This week, we experienced many different sides of Shanghai. We saw the happy faces of fresh college students-to-be, discovered the vibrant local life through anime exhibitions, and also witnessed the challenges brought by the first strong typhoon🌀, Bavi, approaching the Shanghai area.

Despite the rain and strong winds, nothing could slow us down. Our walking tour continued as planned. During this 2.5-hour journey, we explored the traditions and hidden stories of Shanghai, tasted local flavors, experienced the city’s unique atmosphere, and perhaps, most importantly, gained new friendships along the way.
