🚋 Did you know Saltburn is home to the oldest water-balanced cliff lift still operating in Great Britain?

First opened in 1884, Saltburn Cliff Lift uses a clever water-powered counterbalance system to carry visitors between the Victorian town and the beach below. It's a little piece of engineering history, with lovely views of the coastline along the way.

🚲 And if you're exploring the coast by bike, Saltburn is a great stop on the Cleveland Coast cycle route between Redcar and Saltburn, with the pier, beach and independent cafés all worth a detour.

A little Victorian ingenuity, a dose of sea air and a different way to explore the Tees Valley.

💙 Did you know there's a chapel on the Essex coast that's around 1,350 years old?

Standing almost alone on the remote Dengie Peninsula, St Peter-on-the-Wall dates back to the 7th century. Surrounded by open skies, salt marshes and the waters of the estuary, it's a remarkable place to discover a quieter, more unexpected side of Essex.

🦭 It’s nearly peak pupping season at Donna Nook on the Lincolnshire coast!

Each November, grey seals gather on the dunes and salt marshes to give birth to their fluffy pups. 💙

The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust have started their annual Pupdates, with the first pup of the season arriving on Saturday 24 October.
