The Coach House Has a Brand-New Slate Hat!

Our beautiful Coach House now boasts a brand-new slate roof! Guided by our expert craftsman builder, we chose only top-quality materials—both to honour the 200+ years of history behind the building and to ensure it sits harmoniously alongside the neighbouring listed properties.

The entire roof has been fully insulated to the highest modern standards, while also allowing for proper air circulation—crucial for the health of older buildings. New soffits and fascia boards, crafted from natural materials, complete the transformation.

It not only looks incredibly smart, but it's also built to withstand everything Exmoor’s wild weather can throw at it for many decades to come.

I found this quite article fascinating as there are many early & quite lovely finger posts still in use around Exmoor, something very indicative about the timeless quality of the area. It captivates the way nature is so entwined with something a mundane as a wooden post.

Did you know Exmoor was designated by the International Dark-Sky Association as Europe's first Dark Sky Reserve in 2011

There are over 50 events taking place in celebration of this year's Exmoor Dark Skies Festival (18 October – 3 November).
Free copies of the programme are available from our Exmoor National Park Centres: Lynmouth, Dunster and Dulverton and you can hire telescopes for £25 per night

This is a great place to visit by all accounts and I my favourite fairground ride has always been the dodgems! I should have made the effort because it is closing forever at the end of August - so make sure you visit!
