'SECRETS OF THE CARIBBEAN' - 03 January 2027!

After two successive Januarys exploring the islands of Cape Verde, a Winter Sun cruise to the Canary Islands and another to Spain in January of this year, we're off again in January 2027 to get away from the cold, damp and grey UK, to sail around the Caribbean Islands for 2 whole weeks! This is YOUR chance to join us!

We will fly from London Heathrow with Virgin Atlantic to Bridgetown, Barbados, board Ambassador’s small MS Renaissance cruise ship (max 1200 passengers) and over 14-nights, sail to the beautiful islands of St Vincent, The Granadines, Dominica, Aruba, Curacao, Guadalupe, St Lucia, Granada & Tobago, returning back to Barbados.

Stating at just £2,968pp, this is a really great value Caribbean Fly-Cruise (you'll be there in just under 9hrs instead of around 8-days from Southampton for a typica 21-35-day cruise. You also have the immediate option of flight upgrades/leg-room at a great price!

I hope you are all enjoying this wonderful weather and are making the absolute most of it ....... so you definitely don't need Solent Events to take you somewhere exotic at the moment, do you?!!

Of course we still have some great places to experience and special Wonders Of the World (WOW!) to see when the weather goes back to normal this year, so don't give up planning ahead just yet!

This Thursday, 28 May, a small group of us are heading off to the New Forest and the famous CHEWTON GLEN HOTEL to sample their exclusive 6-course Tasting Menu Dinner in The Dining Room Restaurant. This will be Solent Events 3rd exclusive restaurant visit for their Tasting Menu, after experiencing Ramon Blanc's LE MANOIR AUX QUAT'SAISONS last year. Sadly, we're back …. but with some wonderful memories of Idyllic Italy in one of the most beautiful areas - Secluded Tuscany!
It was exactly 15-years ago that Solent Events enjoyed 8 glorious days in the elegant Tuscan Spa town of Montecatini Terme (between Lucca & Pistoia) and so it was lovely returning with MAGARI TOURS (an independent travellers brand of our favourite tour operator, Success Tours).

We experienced spectacular scenery; delicious, healthy food, local wines & homegrown olive oil. There was pasta to die for in local osterias and trattorias, hidden up secluded alleys, or with panoramic views. We wandered pretty medieval hilltop towns & villages, dined on cheese and tasted wine at family vineyards and discovered layers of Etruscan labyrinths of tunnels and water systems. Idyllic.

WE LOVE ITALY!
It's time for another trip to Tuscany!!
The tour that started as a Magari Tours 'recce' - to the Grand Impero Hotel in the hillside town of Castel del piano, culminated into a mini tour with three Italy-loving clients who wanted to experience Tuscany, but 'off-the-beaten-track' - Secluded Tuscany
It doesn't seem possible, but it's exactly 15-years ago in April 2011 that 35 Solent Events on Tour clients toured Tuscany with me, staying at the private Ercolini Savi Hotel in the Victorian Spa town of Montecatini Terme. Amazingly, the tour guide meeting us in Pisa will be the same wonderful guide, Wendy Viney, originally from Cumbria, but has lived in Italy for the past 35-years. Wendy has since been our tour guide on numerous Italian group tours, including Umbria, Veneto, Venecia & Amalfi.
Along with Solent Events on Tour, Wendy has now joined the enthusiastic team headed by Tony Flanagan of Success Tours, promoting 'Inside Italy' with the newly launched Magari Tours.

We're off to the Mill at Sonning once again this afternoon for the evening performance and a dekicious pre-theatre dinner ...

The JACK & SARAH romantic comedy drama will be Solent Events' first visit to our favourite dinner-theatre this year, but will not be the last, as we have the Thriller drama MIRROR CRACK'D for Halloween and a Twixmas escape to ANYTHING GOES to look forward to!

Following the fantastic 58th STREET last month, check out the Solent Events website for more NEW Immersive Dinner Theatres ..... Le Chat Noir, Mamma Mia! The Party & The Great Christmas Feast. They are all great fun, great value .... and of course NO HASSLE!

Our Exciting Sunday Away-Day proved to be everything we had hoped ...
We all remembered to put our clocks forward, which was a good start! The sun shone early to wish us well and our arrival at London's Victoria Station was in plenty of time to freshen up, consume a welcome Kir Royale in the Orient Express Lounge and board our elegant carriage, Audrey.
The platform atmosphere was relaxed and the 40's style singing trio set the scene for our exciting day ahead with ..... smart, attentive stewards, delicious food, copious amounts of bubby and wiine, plus the excellent company of our companions, all sitting comfortably in one of the oldest, but lovingly restored and very authentic pullman carriages.
Hunger would definitely not be a problem today! With canapes & Bucks Fizz offered en route to London, a traditional 3-course Sunday Lunch followed by an English cheese board with sourdough biscuits & fruit bread, the 5-hours gliding through the Kent countryside to the coast at Margate, seemed to pass by in a flash!

Besides celebrating 35-years of Solent Events, this was a wonderful treat for a couple of birthdays (Carol & Andy) and a Ruby Wedding Aniversary treat for John & Cherry, but clients never tire of these relaxing, special Away-Days, where we can delve into another world, with no stress, no hassle and a touch of luxury to make us feel really great, whatever the weather the problems left behind !

If you would like to spend the day with us on this iconic train, our Murder on the Orient Express scheduled for Thursday 08 October may be just the ticket!

Excitement is building once again, as we head off up to London Victoria for another special Solent Events 35th Year Anniversary Lunch ... but this is not just any lunch, it's The Great British Traditional Sunday Lunch ...... on the Orient Express!
Unfortunately, the only downside for us this morning was a very early departure .... losing even more precious sleep with the clocks went forward an hour! Did YOU remember???
I'm sure no one minded rising so early though .... as it's definitely worth an early-rise Sunday!
I'm personally looking forward to welcoming on board11 Solent Events guests, but also Glen of Wendy Wu Worldwide Tours, as due to the ongoing Iran conflict causing so many flight problems, he had to miss our previous 35-year Anniversary Lunch on The Gosport Lightship a few weeks ago.
With others also celebrating various birthdays & anniversaries, dressed to impress, in an era befitting the Orient Express of bye gone years, I'm sure we're all going to have a ball!!

We're now looking at LE CHAT NOIR for September 2026, the birthplace of cabaret - an evening of art, absinthe and anarchy and where we will be transported to bohemian Montmartre of the 1890s, inside legendary, Le Chat Noir, the original Parisian cabaret club that launched a cultural revolution and gave birth to the modern nightlife we still chase today..
It's the latest creation from The Lost Estate, the company behind 58th Street, celebrated for transforming live performance into fully realised worlds. Interested?

Historic! Someone actually did manage to get some photos of HMS Dragon leaving Portsmouth Harbour from The Lightship today after all! They stayed in the bar later than everyone else attending our Solent Events 35-years Celebration Lunch ........ so, thank you Springer - you're a star!
