Continuing the conversation this Dementia Action Week...

Awareness begins with understanding and that includes recognising the early signs of dementia, so we can offer the right support at the right time.

Here are just a few signs to look out for:

🔹 Forgetting names, dates or recent conversations
🔹 Feeling disoriented in familiar places
🔹 Struggling to follow or join in conversations

These changes may seem small at first, but they matter. Spotting the signs early can help families plan ahead, access support, and ensure their loved one’s needs are met with kindness and care.

Let’s keep the conversation going - by learning more, sharing experiences, and looking out for one another 💜

Accessibility in Home Care 💜

Whether it’s mobility support, communication tools, or adapting to different needs, we provide care that is inclusive and accessible to everyone.

🔢 More than 16 million people in the UK live with a disability. That’s 24% of the population, many of whom may require accessible care at home. (Source: Family Resources Survey, DWP 2023)

Our carers go the extra mile to ensure that everyone can maintain their independence while receiving the highest quality care in the comfort of their own home.

Let’s make care more accessible for all.

This week marks with a theme of Community, something that sits at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s supporting our customers or supporting each other, we know that taking time to connect can make all the difference.

To mark the week, our Support Office team took part in a Walk-and-Talk, a simple but powerful way to connect and check in with one another.

At Helping Hands, our purpose is to help people live well in the homes and communities they love, and that starts with us too!

Each day is unique, but all are filled with purpose.

From offering support with daily tasks and providing companionship, to bringing a smile to someone who needs it most—you’ll help others live independently in the comfort of their own homes. Whether it’s assisting with housekeeping, meal prep, or simply sharing a friendly conversation, every moment in care truly matters.

If you’re thinking about a career in care or want to learn more about starting a rewarding new journey, we’re here to help 💜

This Mental Health Awareness Week, let’s shine a light on the importance of mental health and wellbeing for both carers and the people they support.

At Helping Hands, we understand that mental health is just as important as physical health for us to be able to live well. Our carers are on hand to support with not only physical care, but also with companionship and helping maintain mental wellbeing, which is such an important part of what it means to live well.
