What a fab week we have had so far showcasing our region to Tour Operators from all over the world for the Shared Island Workshop.
Our fam trip itinerary hosted by Visit Derry was fab including
*Derry Girls tour and the Derry Girls Experience Tower Museum
*An update on the new DNA museum due to open next year
*The amazing shirttalesni experience with Cat and Margaret in First Derry Presbyterian Church
*A gorgeous river cruise along the Foyle with Eddie and Ailish from Amazing Grace Yacht Charters
*Fed and watered in the Walled City Brewery with a tour of the site
*A visit to the newly refurbished Da Vinci's Hotel
*A fab run with Ciaran Devine on derry_citybustours
*A visit to the Peacemakers Museum museum
*A gorgeous performance from Celtic Grá Show in
All followed by a very productive workshop in The Everglades Hotel.
Many thanks to Tourism Ireland & Tourism NI - a fab week for our region and it was an absolute pleasure to be involved 👏
We are looking forward to working with the new operators who are planning to add Derry to their itinerary 💛

We are absolutely devastated to learn about the closing of Java Coffee Shop - as many of you know we have used here as somewhat of a base for our guides and visitors for many years.
This is such a difficult time for independent traders in the city centre - we wish Catherine, Linda and all the staff the very best in their future endeavours - we will miss you all so much 💛💛

An Appreciation Post

As we come to the end of our time at 33 Ferryquay Street and we close the doors to Java for the last time at the end of the month, we would like to take this opportunity to say a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all our customers, past and present, and all our staff members, past and present, who have visited us and supported us over the past 22 years , 4 of them as Guava Juice Bar and 18 of them trading as Java Coffee Shop.
Words can not express what a privilege it has been to get to know you all and share in your lives. We have watched children grow, celebrated birthdays, maybe listened to the odd bit of gossip, tried to support through illnesses and deaths. We have shared many good times and many not so good times. Some customers have been coming through the doors of Java for 26 years ...we consider you as part of the Java family and we hope you feel the same way about us.
My favorite thing to hear over the years is " We ll be back!"
So for now, it is a sad goodbye. Come in and visit us for one last cup of tea or coffee and a chat and remember to bring any vouchers you have with you too.

As a tour guide - tips do provide a considerable amount of our income.
For the next 3 weeks - any tips I receive will be going to local charity Children's Heartbeat Trust 💛
On Sunday 6th September I am running my first ever half marathon for this fabulous charity who provide emotional and financial support to local families living with CHD. This is a charity close to my heart who has helped my immediate family in recent years.
One final push now in these next few weeks to get the donations and the miles up 👏
